Dr. Carolina Zakes is Nationally Board Certified in Acupuncture and licensed to practice in the state of Florida. She holds a BS in Biology from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, OK and holds a Doctor of Oriental Medicine degree (DOM) from Acupuncture and Massage College in Miami, FL. In accompaniment to her Traditional Chinese Medicine training she also holds diplomas in Biology and Health Sciences.
Fertility has become a huge topic of discussion when a woman and her partner finally decide to grow their family. Despite what society makes us believe, conceiving can take a little more work than originally anticipated. And that's ok! Infertility often gets diagnosed after one year of having unprotected sex and not conceiving.
If you and your partner have decided to go the IVF (in vitro fertilization) route, then you should consider supplementing your IVF journey with acupuncture care. Dr. Zakes recommends women who are trying to conceive through IVF treatments to start weekly acupuncture sessions 3 months prior to starting an IVF cycle.

It was my 1st visit to Ova Health + Fertility and I cannot wait for my future visits. The staff is so friendly and open, they made me feel welcomed and like family. I had acupuncture done for the first time and I was a little nervous but Zuly eased my nerves and even checked up on me after the session began. I also had a vaginal steam done and let me tell you the herbs smelled so damn good that I asked if I could drink it! Their rooms are extremely unique and zen like. First I would like to say that Dr. Zakes has an amazing energy and aura about her. The rooms are all decorated in such a beautiful way. She sends all the good vibes and the acupuncture she gave me always made me feel brand new after each session.

Having a great postpartum experience is no accident thanks to the team at Ova Health. Currently 3 weeks postpartum and 5 stars doesn't cut it. I was throughly prepared for a less than positive experience thus far but that hasn't been the case. I always feel welcome and supported whenever I visit. Before starting my journey with Dr. Zakes I was a bit confused and unguided. After seeing Dr. Zakes for a little bit over a month for fertility I can say all of my doubts have been addressed and feel extremely comfortable. Ever since I started going in for acupuncture, I feel and see the difference in my body and menstrual cycle. After years of struggling, I finally decided to contact Dr. Zakes about my reproductive issues. Our initial meeting was via Zoom and I have to tell you, I finally felt heard! We came up with a game plan and I scheduled my first visit. Her office is inviting and warm and both Dr. Zakes and her assistant Stephanie are amazing! I feel so cared for, understood, and helped. Although Dr. Zakes was out at an emergency when I had my first appointment, the other doctor was extremely nice and comfortable. She sat down next to me and listened to my story. The acupuncture was a great new experience for me and the vaginal steam was glorious! I loves the little zen gardens in the room to play with while steaming. There was so much beatify to take in and it felt and smelled amazing. I look forward to continuing my treatment with this team and healing my body in ways that modern medicine isn't able to.

I have been going to Dr. Zakes for a couple of months and the weekly acupuncture has become one of my favorite parts of my week. With all the stress and unknown of the fertility journey, I find acupuncture grounds and relaxes me. I like that it makes me feel like I am doing something tangible to improve fertility. I absolutely love coming here. Have only been a client for about a month but it's already my favorite part of the week! I haven't had a regular cycle since high school and I have spent so much money trying to get answers as to why for years with no results from the doctors I have seen in Ohio, Tampa or in Broward. The best acupuncture and wellness doctor in South Florida! Originally went to her to regulate my period and help with hormonal imbalance, also started going for anxiety, migraines, stress relief, and back pain. I have had the worst experience ever and haven't even been seen by them. I had two different appointments for a massage. The first was on a Saturday and they called at 4 pm the night prior telling me they had to cancel due to their AC breaking. I was upset as I was 6 months pregnant and looking forward to a massage, but I get it. They scheduled me for two weeks later on a Saturday morning. Dr. Zakes has spent many years researching the secrets of Chinese Medicine and other modalities, outside of being a scientist, to women's health and infertility. We have on numerous times spoken about the need to assist those who just need a little adjustment, lifestyle change and diet modification. Dr. Zakes is a Wonder Woman. I came out of here after getting acupuncture and cupping and I feel so so much better already. I've had this chronic back pain and after several visits to a massage spa nearby, I realized that the pain wasn't leaving and I had to take other measures. I heard about her through a friend and since she takes my insurance, i figured I'd visit her office to see if she could actually help alleviate this weird pain. She gave me the works !
