Situated within My Family Counseling, our studio focuses on holistic body and mind healing for each member of our community. We believe that the gifts of yoga can benefit all people. We integrate several different practices during our classes, to include physical practice (asana), the eight-limb path, yoga philosophy, aromatherapy, sound healing, breathing techniques, and guided meditation.
We support all of our students in practicing yoga with proper alignment of the spine, joint freedom and movement, and strength from a place of integrity. Our small class sizes allow us to focus on individual students and their needs. Students will even occasionally get a one-on-one session with an instructor during a group class if only students attends.

We choose to teach at Selah Yoga Studio with an emphasis on what you can feel in the body, instead of what the poses themselves look like. Therefore, we do not have mirrors in the practice space. Being extremely interested in protection of the spine and integrity of the joints as a teacher and student myself, we teach how to engage the bandhas for optimal strength.
When my world gets busy and my Soul needs renewal & refreshment, Yoga has been a consistent way for me surrender the things that entangle me from my past. Specifically Yoga has helped me worked though my abuse, shame, and trauma too many ways and times to count. My hope is that it can do the same for your Practice.
My name is Allison, but you can call me Allie. I've practiced yoga for six years and have taught yoga for four years. I first came to yoga during my last few months serving in the Army, and I haven't left since. I obtained my 200-hour certification in Yoga in 2017 and am pursuing my 300-hour Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) certification within the next year.
Practice is created with an intelligent design using the Vinyasa Krama, which simply means "to place in a special way, " to open space within yourself moving gently toward more effort. Eventually postures will be held in focused attention to practice being resilient on your mat. Class supports counseling and/or trauma therapies to help move emotions or self-debilitating behaviors through the body using awareness and connection.
We are so grateful you have chosen Selah Yoga for your practice. Just one more thing we are needing before class begins as a new student with us.
