Mats Fogelvik, born in Sweden 1959. Designer/artist and woodworker. In 1987, I attended an art and furniture making school in Stockholm, and worked as a teacher for wood shop classes during 1988. My world adventures landed me on Maui in 1991, since then I have been a full time woodworker and furniture maker.
We still have a living tradition of woodworking in Sweden, and I was surrounded by old and new furniture in my youth. I have a rich inspirational source to draw from in the Scandinavian heritage and traditions. I am attracted to simplicity, beauty and function in a form. I believe a lot of furniture nowadays is "over designed".

Services
The table above is called "Roots of Inspiration". In this case the inspiration came from a bridge on the Hana Hwy, Maui. My specialty is custom made handcrafted furniture and interior woodwork. I create studio furniture for sale and display in galleries. My main medium is Koa wood, endemic to Hawaii.
This web site's purpose is to give you a taste of what I can do for you. All the pieces displayed here are already sold, if not noted otherwise. I do two types of work, custom orders and original designs. The difference is that a custom order is created on the request of you, and through a process of communication, sketches and drawing I will make a piece to fit you.
