What are learning disabilities?

This can be a confusing topic for kids, parents, and adults in general. The bottom line is that a learning disability is identified when a person has a significant difference between his/her thinking abilities, education level, and performance in school. Learning Disabilities can affect a person's ability in the areas of: Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing, Math, Spelling, and Reasoning.

I am in-network with Premera, some Blue Cross Blue Shield plans, First Choice, and Medicare. I will bill your insurance directly, but cannot guarantee payment from your insurance provider. It is your responsibility to find out from your insurance company the extent to which your mental health benefit may be limited.
Psychotherapy (also called therapy or counseling) is a process of mutual collaboration between therapist and client to identify the underlying causes of distress and find more adaptive and satisfying alternatives. Above all, it is important that you feel understood and are able to share your thoughts and feelings.
Problems with attention/concentration are some of the most pervasive, but least specific complaints in psychology. That is, these problems can arise for extremely different reasons. For example, attention problems can be caused by a lack of sleep, head injuries, neurological diseases, depression, anxiety, ADHD, or even just individual differences in cognitive abilities.
A general psychological assessment is meant to help clarify diagnosis and to provide treatment recommendations. Sometimes people seek these on their own, but other times therapists or physicians refer their clients/patients for an evaluation to help their treatment process. Diagnostic Interview: This is a 55 minute appointment where we can identify the presenting concerns and some important history.
