Located in State College, Pennsylvania, the attorneys at Engle, Kauffman & VanHorn, P.C., have over 60 years of combined experience in assisting families throughout Central Pennsylvania with accident claims, family law issues, criminal defense, estate planning and probate, and civil litigation. Our partners were born and raised in Central Pennsylvania and graduated from Penn State.
David D. Engle was born 1963 in Sunbury, Pennsylvania. He attended The Pennsylvania State University (B.A., Political Science with high distinction, 1986) (Phi Beta Kappa). He received his legal education at the University of North Carolina (J.D., 1989) and was admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar in 1989.
Jill C. Engle was born in Bedford, Pennsylvania in 1969. She was admitted to the New York and Pennsylvania bars in 2002. Ms. Engle is a law professor and the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at Penn State Law. She acts as "of counsel" for the law firm.
She assists with the law firm's management and consults with the practicing attorneys on matters of family law, her main area of scholarship at Penn State Law, but she does not represent clients or handle cases.Ms. Engle also participates in the Central Counties Collaborative Law Community, along with the law firm's Rose Kauffman with Stephanie VanHorn.

Rose Kauffman is Of Counsel to the firm. As such, she primarily provides counsel and assistance to the other attorneys in the firm in the areas of family law, business planning, estate planning and estate administration/probate. She continues to provide counsel to clients on a limited basis in these areas.
Attorney Stephanie VanHorn is a central Pennsylvania native, who grew up in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania and received her legal education at Penn State Law. Attorney VanHorn focuses her practice on criminal defense and family law, including divorce, custody, and support and prides herself on aggressively protecting her clients' interests.
