Canaan is established as a resource for families within York County, the greater Charlotte area and beyond. Our primary service to families is through our programs, which include: summer camps, retreats, and adventures. Additionally, we offer financial relief for families by providing scholarships for children to attend our summer camp.
Whatley and Nick and Tiffany Wimmer met to share the desires God had placed in them to develop a unique ministry to children and families on a 100-acre island in the Catawba River in Rock Hill, SC. The Whatley's had owned the property for several years, clinging to the promise that it would be used one day as a blessing to children and their families.
Whether it's your first time attending summer camp or you're a returning camp family, we want to welcome you to an exciting summer of fun, memories, growth and friendship at Camp Canaan! Located on a 100 acre island in the Catawba River just 25 miles south of Charlotte, NC, Camp Canaan offers unique summer camps for kids in the Charlotte, Fort Mill, and Rock Hill, SC area.

Our signature 9-week, full-summer day camp runs from 7:30 am -5:30 pm, Monday-Friday just outside of Rock Hill, SC. Campers can attend for one week or for multiple weeks of the summer - it's up to you and your kiddo! Our lead counselors work diligently to design unique activities each week of Summer Camp.

The disc golf course at camp Canaan cost $6 per person and was ridiculously fun and challenging! Highly suggest stopping by. We really enjoyed the Riverbend course and even saw some campers fly by on a zip line above! After getting an ace on hole 7 (over a pond) my partner had to buy a cool Camp Canaan disc from their nice camp store collection! Sign a waiver online before you play or sign it on an iPad in the shop!

My daughter LOVED her counselors and all of the activities they had planned for her and her friends. They were supportive throughout the entire week - helping her feel comfortable in a new environment, introducing her to so many new outdoor adventures and experiences, and helping her step outside of her comfort zone. She also really enjoyed the Bible study hour and group singing (and now wants to learn how to play guitar)! Thank you for giving her such an amazing experience - she cannot wait for the rest of the summer and is already planning her resident camp for next year!
