Most people come to The Orient for dim sum. But let it be known their other dishes are delicious. It was great to find such spot on Chinese food in Long Island. The shrimp dumplings are my favorite. Tgey have all the staples, spare ribs,, sticky rice, roast pork buns, etc. Please try the steam custard buns!

Dim sum on Long Island! This is some of the freshest dim sum you can get in Nassau County because they make everything to order. You don't get the rolling steam cart experience like at large Chinese restaurants, but you do get the freshest hot dumplings around.

The best thing on the menu are the beef or shrimp cheung fun (steamed rice rolls). They make it perfectly with just the right texture of chewy & sticky. The sweet soy sauce and the snap of shrimp inside gives it the perfect taste. Regular dim sum items like har gao & shumai are really good as well. Don't be afraid

The dim sum was incredible! Good variety, very tasty. They offer it daily, not just weekends, but the sesame balls only on weekends. We got there just in time because the place completely filled up shortly after we arrived. Definitely will be back, on a weekend so i can get those sesame balls!

Haven't been seated inside for quite awhile so this rating is for take away food. Been coming here for years and the food is very good. I give a 4 star as I feel the food has dipped a bit over time. Is it good-yes. Is the place very busy-yes. This is all very good but I believe when it's this busy, the 5 star goes to a 4 to keep up.
Overall another neighborhood gem.

Watch what you order.. I ordered crab cheese wontons and got wontons with no crabmeat in them. just cream cheese. They charge me for the crabmeat $8 .. When I told them about it they did nothing to correct the problem. Not a good way for a business to act. Will not be ordering from them anymore.

Dined here with my family for our family-friends birthday a couple of weeks back. Our family friend loves authentic Chinese food and we had not visited this restaurant yet so we decided to come check it out.

We came on a Saturday night for an early dinner, and it was already pretty busy. Thankfully we were seated right away. We started off with some egg rolls, bbq spare ribs, and soup dumplings. The egg rolls and ribs were tasty. I wasn't a fan of their soup dumplings. I've definitely had better from other places.

For the main entree's, we shared the sesame chicken, pork-fried

Tommy Tan and his staff run a friendly, and clean restaurant. I have known Tommy for 30 years, from another establishment, and nothing has changed. The kitchen turns out uniformly good food, never skimping on ingredients, and the portions are always of ample size. Definitely worth the trip!

Dont have much choices on Long Island when it comes to dim sum,
We came here on a Sunday around 1:30 to get their dim sum menu, they price the dim sum well. good choices and taste very good. i find this place alot better than fortune wheel, food taste a lot better and the place isn't dirty looking like fortune wheel is. I would come back for dim sum for sure.

Really authentic Cantonese dim sum. Would recommend to anyone who doesn’t want to drive to Queens for dim sum. Was too hungry to take photos but it was also pretty affordable pricing. Ran out of egg tarts when I got there so I have to go back and try them. Definitely recommend them! Great, fast service and nice staff.

One of the best Chinese food places in the area! Never dined in but order takeout from time to time but each time I go in, the restaurant is fairly busy, whether it's for takeout orders or patrons dining in.
My go to is the chicken wings, which are deliciously seasoned and fried rice. I'm yet to try the dim sum, hopefully it's just as good or even better.

Amazing Chinese food! I have been here. Few times and every time they did not disappoint. Everything on their menu is delicious and you cannot go wrong. I highly recommend trying their dim sum - some of the best I’ve had. Come hungry and leave happy!

One of the best and last old school cantonese places around. Chefs cook old school. If you know Chinese the way it was back in 1960s and 70s then you know what I mean. Tradition Chinese Cantonese American. Not take out slop... This place has Hong Kong style dim sum every day and weekends until 3pm. Lunch specials weekly until 3pm and nice portions for dinner. My favorite traditional shrimp with lobster sauce is made perfect and I also enjoy though crispy walnut shrimp dinner. Love their dim sum. A must try if you are in the area. Friendly staff especially one of the waiters Simon. Counter people

We recently went here for a birthday celebration with the family and were not disappointed. Old school large portions of delicious Chinese food at reasonable prices. The only negative is that they have no dessert. I would have liked to order a family portion of mixed ice cream and pineapples. All and all, a great experience. I will definitely be back.

This was my family's go to Chinese restaurant growing up. Since moving out east, it's been a while since I've visited but I was in the area on a Saturday afternoon. My mom and I stopped in for a dim sum lunch and it was awesome. Service is so quick, and the dim sum came around on the cart so you can pick out what you want and then it's just placed on the table so you can start eating immediately. Super fast - we were in and out within 30 minutes. Shrimp dumplings, the best!

Spot on authentic Chinese food ... and I'm not talking about your neighborhood Chinese take out either. The food here is DELiSH!! Before I came here someone said 'know when you're having authentic when half the customers are Chinese' and they were right. Everything my family ordered was great. The Peking pork chop wasn't too lean and wasn't too fatty ... perfect tenderness. The sautéed string beans was nicely cooked with some pickled radish and had a great bite to them. The chicken with ginger and scallion had a nice hint of white pepper which was great too. I recommend

The Orient has been there for a long time.
I do like their dim sum quite good and fresh with friendly staff, and the little custard filled tarts they serve on Saturday and Sunday.

A few days ago I ordered takeout. I gave my name. They usually ask for the last 4 digits of your phone number.
I would take one star away for the takeout.

Upon picking it up, I really had trouble with opening their door. I am not sure if it was a wind bubble or if the door is broken but I had to use my body weight to open it.

Though I do have to say when I ordered the scrimp in lobster sauce, the young lady did

Came here in the middle of quarantine time but Long Island was open for indoor dining so I decided to travel all the way into LI just to get some dim sum! We had ordered a ton for 3 people and practically all the basic dim sum you can even think of (was too excited and only snapped 1 picture) :( But I did record a little so I'll def post it soon or on my YT channel!

They didn't take our temperatures or anything upon arrival but everyone was super distant (table wise). Let's talk about the food! The shumai was def good and the sticky lotus leaf wrap was everyone's favorite!

Question: Name one of two South Shore (ish) Chinese restaurants that brought a slice of Flushing to Long Island about 40 years ago and saved Long Islanders from wretched cookie cutter "Chinese American" food?

Answer: Not the worthy Fortune Wheel but The Orient, a local treasure, the subject of this review.

On Friday, October 2nd, I hosted a dinner for 8 here. It is in a small strip mall on 107, almost across the street from the old Grumman. There is parking in front of and behind the strip of stores. Our group was seated promptly and the server took our orders promptly.

This is the place for dim sum! I've gone to Chinatown for dim sum many many many many times and this restaurant has just as much variety and flavor as any of the major dim sum restaurants in Chinatown. We don't eat pork, so it's important for us to have other options. The beef rice noodle, beef balls, chicken buns, shrimp rice noodle, seafood buns are just a few examples of what we can enjoy. I'll be honest, we've only done take out here since we first tried this place a few months ago during the pandemic. But the food is so delicious (even after reheating) and we always

It sure has been a while since I've had the Orient, and I apologize for my absence!

Decided to do take out on a Friday night. Tried calling in, but no answer. I went there to place my order for take out. They were busy as expected, but the wait was well worth it!

My order included:

Wonton soup- delicious. Not overly salty and a generous serving of wontons for a pint! I believe there was 5 wontons!

Egg roll- amazing and huge! Not greasy. Lots of yummy filling. Fried to perfection.

Chicken Fried Rice- flavorful, not overly salty

Basil Chicken- unique and yummy flavor. Came with string

Really awesome food. I would say next best thing after NYC Chinatown.
Ordered the sesame chicken, which was very well cooked and not dry. The chicken lo mein was ok.
Definitely try the golden crispy chicken.
Owner is very nice and makes sure everyone is enjoying their dining experience.

Everything was delicious! Some of the best Chinese food I've had in a while. I would definitely be going back there again. It was clean, and had good service. The general chow chicken was perfect with a good amount of spice. The broth for the wonton soup had a ton of flavor. If in the area, really nice place to stop and get some good Chinese!
