Eve Stone Antiques, Ltd. specializes in 16th-19th century period brass and antique copper, including antique lighting. Monteiths, filled with cool water or ice, were used for chilling wine bottles and cooling or rinsing wine glasses; the latter were inverted and hung from the notched rim. The earliest written mention of monteiths may be by Anthony Wood, an Oxford diarist writing in 1683.

Services
Eve Stone Antiques, Ltd. was founded in 1970 by Eve Stone. The business is a full time profession for her and her daughter Susan. The first shop we had was in the carriage house of her home on Martha's Vineyard, where she carried a wonderful assortment of English and American country, yet there was always a smattering of copper and brass.
