Ginny Jurken is the owner and sole practitioner of WHYoga-Physical Therapy. She is a Registered Physical Therapist (RPT) specializing in Myofascial Release (MFR) as taught by John Barnes, PT. She is also a registered yoga teacher (RYT) with Yoga Alliance and certified through the International Association of Yoga Therapists (C-IAYT) as a yoga therapist.
At WHYoga-PT the Physical Therapy client is viewed as an individual and is evaluated using a 'whole body' approach. Ginny assesses the entire physical body, not just the injured extremity or part. In addition, Ginny acknowledges the role that the mind and spirit can play in impacting the body's natural healing process.
A: Myofascial Release is a manual therapy treatment technique developed by John Barnes, PT. The Barnes technique requires specialized training. The treatment involves the application of gentle, sustained pressure by the therapist on the client into the fascial restrictions.
Since the fascial system is like a spider web running throughout the entire body, encasing muscles, nerves, blood vessels, bones and organs, a restriction in one area of the body can produce symptoms in an entirely different location.Myofascial release is the release of the fascial restrictions that constrict the muscle/soft tissues.

In Wisconsin there is direct access to Physical Therapy. This means that no prescription is required from a MD or DO in order for Physical Therapy services to be rendered. However, open communication between therapist, client and her physician is encouraged. WHYoga-PT is Out of Network for all insurance companies.
WHYoga~PT offers an integrated approach using a background in Western knowledge and combining it with the time honored Eastern practice of Yoga. Ginny teaches Hatha yoga, combining the physical postures (asanas) with breath work (pranayama), adding a special emphasis on postural alignment. Ginny works together at each student's individual level, making appropriate modifications, so as to provide a safe yoga practice, especially for the beginner.
