As one of Ocean City's oldest, original real estate companies, Monihan Realty was founded at 3201 Central Avenue by Robert and Joy Monihan in 1947. Robert and Joy's sons, Michael and Jeffrey entered the family business and over the years assumed management responsibilities in addition to selling, listing, and renting properties.
In 1986, Michael and Jeffrey took the firm's helm when Robert retired, and, in 1987, they opened a second office at 717 Battersea Road. Tom Melchionni, one of Monihan Realty's top sales agents assumed part ownership and management of the company in 2002. To this day, Monihan Realty has been continuously owned and operated by a member of the Monihan family.

Recently my commercial property on Asbury Road was sold and I'd like to thank Maria DiDomenico Belsky, my agent, for her work in making the sale so quick and efficient. In less than one month, she found a qualified buyer and presented an offer. After some negotiation, a sale price was agreed upon. After the agreement for sale was signed, she coordinated the necessary paperwork and we were able to settle just one week later.

We rented 5533 Central Ave, Ocean City from Monihan the week of Aug. 22-29. The house was dirty, with food and candy wrappers under the beds and infested with mice. When we called to report this on Monday morning, our rental agent, Chris Mirena, offered to “lend us his cat” and thanked us for reporting this “because a friend of his was renting that… house in a few weeks”. There was no follow up, no call back, nothing. On Tuesday night, we went to the store and bought mouse traps. We set 7 traps, caught 3 mice within an hour and had the bait eaten from the others.

Monihan Realty is NOT COMMITTED TO SAFETY OR COVID REGULATIONS FOR CLEANING their properties between renters. This poses a huge risk for vacationers specifically with the dangers associated with COVID 19. I would never recommend this company if they can’t stand behind their own expectations to keep people safe and ensure the properties are spotless! We pay a lot of money to rent in OCNJ! BE CAREFUL!

Our rental property was absolutely disgusting upon arrival. We have gotten no refund and only offered a small credit for next year. Why would we want a credit for a realty company we will NEVER use again??? Monihan lacks professionalism and put our family at risk during the Covid crisis to possible infection.

@MonihanRealty if this is the type of homes U rent to families with children and then refuse to clean it up, you’ll be losing alot of customers after this post. Especially when U have realtors like Jenny Mason telling my wife “then just tell ur babies not to walk over there”
