Many of today's cars have disc brakes in the front and drum brakes in back. And all brakes rely on friction, which is supplied by either a brake pad or a brake shoe to slow and stop your car. To stop a wheel, a disc brake uses a caliper fitted with brake pads to grab a spinning disc, or rotor. A drum brake has a wheel cylinder that pushes a brake shoe against the inside of a spinning drum.

I still drive an old 96' Suburban. The dealer had been doing all my maintenance. However, recently the dealer told me I needed new rear brakes; that my drums were out of spec and my shoes were worn etc. This seemed very strange to me, as those brakes were only a few years old, and I maybe drive 4000 miles a year at most. The DEF system on my diesel truck was giving me so many issues and I was losing hope that it would be fixed properly. These folks diagnosed it properly, they also replaced my alternator and brakes in the same visit. I was without my truck for only two days considering all of the work that was needed. Had to get my fuel pump replaced in my truck before trading it in, and I couldn’t do it myself because the ~30 gallon tank was full. John was very professional over the phone and answered my questions, followed up very quickly during and at the end of the process which took less than half a week. If you’re military they do offer a nice discount which ended up taking like 50 bucks off the total, which was already less than some of the other shops in town quoted me.

I went to Master Tech because my engine light came on, I called other shops and they all told me it would be 150+ just to run a test. Master Tech did the test for free and took care of me immediately!
I told them I might not have a ride to get to the shop and they offered to pay for an Uber. They are extremely professional and do all they can for their costumers.

After a squirrel decided to have my engine wiring harness for lunch, we took my vehicle to master tech. Toyota initially quoted us nearly $7000 to fix the harness and to get it back on the road. Master Texh was able to get my big beautiful blue truck back on the road for less than $800; great work, solid people.

I am sure worse things could happen than your daughter living in Colorado Springs with a 2004 VW and it losing its coolant and running hot -- while you search for a mechanic from your home in So CA, but this was an unfortunate surprise. Luckily we discovered these fine folks. Finding a truthful, considerate and fair mechanic is always a challenge but this shop now has a customer for life (albeit hopefully not for awhile). They treated us so fairly and conscientiously that it was really wonderful dealing with them even in light of the final bill. Cannot recommend Harry and Katie enough. Just go

Update (2020): I've reviewed master tech in the past, and even then gave them a glowing review. However, the service I received the during my most recent encounter has blown me away. I brought my old 4runner in for a repair and informed them what I believed the issue to be (solenoid sensors). After the diagnostic test was preformed, they determined the problem to be related to something else entirely. Long story short, master tech made an error and the repair they initially completed did not fix the issue I had brought the truck in for. Rather than charging me full price for both repairs,

Alright! So we have been here many times whether is suspension issues, or general maintenance. My husband has a 2500HD GMC SIERRA. He bought it brand new and we used to go to a shop in AZ. But when we moved here to CO a year ago we had to find a new shop we could trust. They give it to us straight! We appreciate the honesty and love them for it. So we continue to come back for issues or questions with the big ol truck. They have a lift that fits his heavy lifted truck and it's perfect!! Thanks for everything!!
