The customer's existing wood timbers were rotted after years of ongoing maintenance and sealing; they can also attract termites in some cases. Wood timber walls generally require resealing to prevent wood rot. The clients opted for masonry walls. There is no comparison between real stone walls and wood timbers when it comes to durability, longevity, ease of maintenance, and appearance.
Mottern Masonry Design offers a 5 year warranty on all properly-maintained new installations at no additional cost. Most competitors only offer a 3 to 4 year warranty. For new installations on a crushed gravel or sand base, we offer a 1 year warranty. Mottern Masonry Design offers a 1 year warranty on all concrete work (including stamped concrete), repair work, and installations of brick and/or stone veneers over existing concrete bases.

It is important to recognize that during the installation, hydration, and curing of any concrete product, variables beyond human control may exist that impact the end result. Cracking: Unfortunately, cracking cannot be avoided, even when following best practices. Cracking is an inherent property of concrete.

Mottern Masonry was great to work with and we love our new patio. They were very responsive to all of our questions and were able to put in our patio in a very reasonable timeframe. We got lots of quotes and ideas and found Mottern Masonry not only very professional and timely, but also met our financial expectations. We would definitely use them again in the future! Beautiful, efficient and true craftsmen. Loved watching my two sidewalk projects come to life. Paid 3 different designers to plan these sidewalks but was never satisfied with their ideas. Called Jeff Mottern and he knew exactly what I wanted (and didn't charge for his knowledge and plan). Created the estimate right away, we agreed, and the crew started the next week. I'm beyond happy...it took me 5 or so years to find the perfect company. Can't recommend them enough.

We were planning to use pavers for our driveway, but Jeff recommended that we consider pressed concrete. It came out great. Our driveway now matches our stone walkways. Jeff's workers are very polite, professional and precise. They finished the job on time (what contractor does that?!). We are very pleased with the end result.

Mottern Masonry did an excellent job replacing our original cement walkway and steps with beautiful natural stone. We are glad we took their suggestions to remove a few shrubs, widen the walkway, round it, and expand it across the whole front step. It really changes the appearance of our house. Just four days to do it: removal, new cement, stone facing, and then the surface. Came back to wash it down and seed the lawn.

We had a large pressed concrete patio installed this summer after using Mottern Masonry to replace our front steps with stone several years ago. We didn't bother getting other estimates because we know the quality of work that Mottern Masonry provides. Our patio looks great! Communication was good about when the work would start. Our fence gate and post had to be removed for the concrete carts to carry the concrete to the back yard and the fence post and gate were expertly reinstalled. The management of the concrete trucks down our pipestem was flawless and did not impact any of our neighbors.

Mottern Masonry recently replaced my concrete front walk and stoop with a flagstone walk and stoop, rebuilding it in the process, and replaced the mortar between the flagstone joints on my patio. The price was excellent, especially considering that a competitor had offered a similar price just to cover my old front walk with new flagstone, without rebuilding. (Because there were voids underneath the concrete walk, it was important to have it completely rebuilt.) They showed up on time. They were extremely professional. This is our second project by Mottern and we stand by our “5 Star” rating for a large project that took over a week and a half. Mottern performed flawlessly executing homeowner’s design and help guide masonry style. Mottern also installed the pad for the new jacuzzi and repaired out garage floor. If you want artists who work with masonry don’t hesitate calling Jeff. Their work is not the cement paving stones that will not stand up to wear and tear but natural stone.

Mottern Masonry Design created a space where my family will make many memories. They built a patio using stamped concrete, a concrete sport court for playing basketball, and a stunningly beautiful natural gas fire pit that exceeded my expectations. We needed our front walkway replaced, drainage line buried in addition to a new pad for our sidewalk, Jeff came out and provided us with a couple suggestions for the project in the estimate, along with the information and drawing I needed to provide to the HOA for approval.

Jeff came out to do an estimate on re-doing our driveway with pavers or bricks. He also suggested stamped concrete and we agreed that estimates would be done on both pavers and stamped concrete. We were prepared to spend $10K-$20K, maybe even a little more, on the project.

It's unfortunate that Jeff Mottern could not simply take the time to address my concerns - which may have even taken less time than it did to compose his lengthy reply. After all, he ends with a statement about their commitment to "reliably answer & service repairs for a warranty period of one to five years." This is particularly ironic since I never would have written a review if they had just corrected the problems. Recently got a stamped concrete patio from Mottern. They did a great job, the crew was awesome and Jeff was always quick to answer any questions and keep us updated on the project. We've dealt with many contractors for various upgrades to our home over the years. For this project we received 5 bids and Jeff came in at a very fair price. He created a stamped concrete patio to wrap around our fire pit in the backyard. He also cut the driveway to bury the downspouts under the asphalt, prior to the paving job. I did a few estimates before finally meeting with Mottern Masonry. They were extremely quick to contact me and set up an estimate. On they day of the estimate we met with Jeff and his associate. Jeff gave great advice about what we should do about a recent rental property we purchased. We completely redid the parking pad and the pathway with stamped concrete. I think the price was reasonable but more importantly the team who worked on the project were reliable and communicated every step of the way. Their stamped concrete is some of the best I have seen. I couldn't be happier with the result
