I have over 45 years' experience in martial arts and have invested my passion in Sioux Falls for the past 31 years. I am a Chief Master 8th Degree Black Belt and have owned and operated the ATA Martial Arts Academy in Sioux Falls since 1986. With over 130,000 active members in the American Taekwondo Association, I am currently ranked 14.
My taekwondo academy has been selected "School of the Year" four times, chosen out of over 1,100 taekwondo academies nationwide. We have also been voted the number one martial arts center in Sioux Falls since the category was included with the Sioux Falls Local Best. My job is to teach a system of progression that is based on simply doing one thing, doing your best.

I am a 1st degree black belt in taekwondo, cheif master hoover has trained me for a little over 3 years as well as the other instructors, they have done such a good job that i would get 4, 1st place medals at nearly every tournament i went to, didnt even matter what age bracket i was in. Cheif master hoover and his instructors use positive correction, precision, as well as teach you discipline. Great place

Hoover’s has been so good for our busy 5 year old! He has really enjoyed classes and with practice he has made great progress. I love their word of the month, the life lesson they have each class and the instructors enthusiasm to teach even young ones. They teach so many good life skills as well and the half hour classes are perfect for my son. I highly recommend Hoover’s Martial Arts!

Can not express how spectacular our experience has been. My son has a handful of disorders and they have shown tremendous support while holding him accountable at the same time. Our income is limited and it is a struggle to budget, but his classes are always at the top of that list. it's not just a taekwondo program, it is a life program. Having instructors with different styles gives the students a wonderful balance. They teach physical strength as well as integrity, responsibility and manage to throw in some fun as well. We were given amazing support when my son lost his father in a car accident

I signed my daughter up back in 2019, I gave her the option to stay or leave after her trial. She enjoyed it and enjoyed her instructors. She's been here for a little over a year now. Its helped her to focus in school, she started to read more and it broke her out of her shyness and anti social shell. Mr. Hoover does great teaching and being patient with the kids, as well as the other instructors are awesome. I definitely recommend Hoovers!!

Hoover's is one of the best martial arts programs in the country. All of the instructors really want to see kids reach their potential not only in taekwondo and self defense but in all aspects of life. The emphasis on character, discipline, and making good choices is so strong that I have watched it literally transform a kid's life. Please consider either attending here yourself or sending your kid here, you won't regret it.

My son and I both earned our black belts under Cheif Master Hoover. He does a tremendous job teaching and his weekly lessons to the kids are a great addition to the classes! We have enjoyed our time there very much. I would highly recommend Hoover's Martial Arts to any of those looking to get into the sport.

I have been a regular student and instructor to date since the first day Master Hoover opened his doors in Sioux Falls, SD in 1986. Both of my children have earned up to their 1st and 3rd degree black belts under his direction. Myself and my kids benefited in so many ways...from confidence building, respect, perseverance, kindness, life skills, and so many other attributes....including physical fitness and just a whole lot of fun for kids and adults!

We initially started our kids at Hoover's to get them into an activity and see if they would like it. I quickly learned that Master Hoover and his staff teach so much more than just the physical parts of martial arts. They teach and encourage many of the morals, values, and responsibilities that will help kids grow into respectable adults. Discipline, accountability, perseverance, attitude, respect, honor, courtesy, ... so much more. I am so glad that we stumbled upon such a great program, having not known about Hoover's before. Wouldn't trade this experience for anything else.

Hoover Martial Arts has been part of our family for many years. My husband had the pleasure of taking lessons as a child in the late 80's. Now our 7 year old is testing for his black belt this summer!
