Born and raised in Northern Maryland on the Chesapeake Bay, John Lamar understands the devotion and passion that owners have for their boats. Serving 20 years in the Air Force, John instills the same values and attention to detail into every piece of work no matter how big or small. After finishing programs taught by one of the most respected schools for Marine Canvas & Upholstery in the country, John started his own business in 2014.

Well, you give a deposit in January. You’re given a promise to have work start in May. June you call and hear a multitude of excuses and new promises. Fast forward to October, still no canvas and the excuses only become bigger. Try asking for a refund. I’ll wait, we’re told that’s not a thing.

I contacted Lamar Canvas after speaking to a number of other groups who were just not willing or interested in doing a custom jet ski seat. I spoke with a gentleman here who instantly made me realize I had found the perfect place to get my custom seat finished. The final product is amazing and holding up 100%. The quality is a 10 out of 10, and this is a company very easy to deal with. Anything you want done, these guys will blow you away. Highly recommend this company!

You won't find a better shop for your canvas/upholstery needs. John has the knowledge in the craft, integrity in his work, and friendliness in his service. Him and his staff have always taken care of me and I've never been unsatisfied with their work. Lamar Custom Canvas did canvas, lower cabin upholstery, and vinyl seat repairs for me. Great work and great prices. It was well worth the 30 minute drive.

I hired this in January and still haven't had my work done. I understand that this a difficult time, but people in our marina hired him October 2019 before COVID, and haven't had their work done. He's flaked on us five times since January. I do not recommend him if you want reliable work.

Highly recommend John doing your canvas and upholstery needs! He did a great job on my boat cushions and has a great attention to detail. He don’t know yet but I’ve got some projects for him in a few months!
