Functional medicine is looking through an entirely new lens where we ask the question WHY for the first time. WHY do you feel so exhausted that you can barely get through the day? Hurt all over? Have brain fog? You can fill in the blank. The Optimal Wellness for Life Center opened in 2013 and never looked back.
Over time, we have come to recognize common underlying triggers for chronic conditions such as the American diet, food sensitivities, gastrointestinal - immune imbalance (leaky gut), environmental toxins, hidden chronic infections and life stressors. Our team has been witness to many life changing transformations.

Services
I am listening. As a nurse practitioner with more than a decade of traditional Endocrinology experience, I have heard so many of my patients tell their stories of chronic unexplained symptoms that profoundly impact their quality of life. Many of them passed from practitioner to practitioner with no answers, being told that "there is nothing wrong with you" or "your tests are all normal."
Optimal Wellness offers Functional Medicine, which is a comprehensive, time intensive approach to chronic disease that is not covered by Traditional health insurance. Our practitioners want to take care of you in a way that insurance companies do not reimburse for or recognize. Unlike acute medical conditions, chronic illness is not resolved in a single appointment, or a few follow up appointments.
IV nutrient therapy is the fastest way to provide your body with certain substances that it needs to ensure optimal metabolic function. By using direct intravenous administration, the client is able to bypass the gut and avoid the repercussions of malabsorption that can be present when there is gastric inflammation or dysfunction.
Functional Medicine involves understanding and identifying the triggers, prevention, and treatment of complex, chronic disease and symptoms. Our Functional Medicine approach focuses on personalized patient-centered care, promoting health as a positive vitality, beyond just the absence of disease.
We integrate a science-based approach, creating a focus on prevention incorporating the "whole person" through advanced diagnostic testing, therapeutic interventions focusing on nutrition, targeted nutritional/botanical supplements, therapeutic diets, detoxification and gut healing protocols, and stress management techniques. At Optimal Wellness, we understand your frustration when you feel like no one is listening to you.

The connection between stress and illness is well documented in the literature. Elevated stress has been associated with various health conditions including cardiovascular disease, gastrointestinal disease, and hormone imbalance, just to name a few. Remember that inflammation uses the same pathway as stress.

Optimal wellness for life has been genuinely life changing. The invaluable education, expertise and iv infusions I have received, have enabled me to be more productive at work and a better mother at home. The chronic illnesses that previously debilitated me, are no longer a part of my daily stress and they no longer define me. My iv infusions have helped enhance my health and energy. I’m so grateful!

I recently had an IV Infusion for an immunity boost from Hope. It was an amazing experience. Not only did I feel more energetic and alert from the infustion, I was totally blown away by Hope's kindness, compassion, knowledge, and attention to detail. She has such a calming presence and very gently administers the IV. Hope was extremely attentive and made sure that I was comfortable and relaxed the entire appointment. I will definitely go back!

I only called this practice to see about an appointment. As someone who moved here from DC, where many doctors do NOT take insurance, I can say their fees are outrageous.
A consultation with an intensivist (an actual MD, which the Doctor of the practice is not, she is an NP with a doctorate) cost me 150 to 200 per hour/per visit. A surgeon I consulted cost me 300 per hour.
This practice wants you to pay 600 per every 12 week visit with the NP. You get 3 initial appts with a RD and also see a nurse every 13 weeks. On top of this you will pay cash for expensive vitamins/supplements and bloodwork

I am so thankful that I found this Functional Doctor so close to me. I am one to do a lot of research about my health issues, and Dr Ruby has been invaluable for me. Finally, a doctor who wants to heal my auto immune disease instead of just treating the symptoms with drugs that further damage my body. I have gained more benefits in only a few months than I ever did from the traditional doctors that treated me for over 3 years. I am so impressed with the attitude of everyone in the office. This is an extremely friendly and cheerful environment. I don't feel like I am in a doctors office, but more

I was very disappointed in the service I received. The nutritional advice was really lacking. If you are someone who has already done a whole30, reads anything by functional medicine practitioner/bloggers online, and can use a search engine you'll be disappointed too. I knew more about ancestral health and nutrition than these practitioners did (they admitted this to me).
This practitioner did order extensive blood work, but she overlooked some key flags and seemed to only be interested in ordering more and more (expensive) testing. I am all for testing if it's needed, but blood work that's covered
