Services
Our owners purchased The JS Shaker Cafe in May of 2016 with the dream of owning an establishment for friends and families to gather. The cafe has been continuously serving Flemington New Jersey for a number of decades and is the place to be to grab a quick bit, a cup of coffee or a fresh baked good!

If you are a local, this is the place to hang out "where everybody knows your name". Alas, we didn't feel welcome. The waitress spent most of her time chatting it up with the insiders. I couldn't get her attention to top off my coffee. Only when I went up to her to request the check did she offer. Oh, bring your own water. They charge $1.25 if you request water.

Food was great, service a bit over-bearing. Made the mistake of speaking Spanish to my mother and both the customers and service attitude changed immediately. Was then "given" the check before I even started my meal, all while a couple behind us had to ask for their check twice. Would have ordered more, but the message was quiet clear at this point. A tad uncomfortable. But the place was cheap, in more ways than one.

On Saturday, we stopped by at 3:00 pm. 1 other table was seated/eating. Waitress tells us "We are closing at 3:30 pm - sorry".
Really? We wanted something quick ie: sandwich. In this economy where a place like this clearly appears to be on its' last leg hanging on to survive, you are really turning away a likely $35+ bill, plus $7+ tip !!?? If the waitress was the owner: Shameful! You don't deserve to be in business. If she was just an employee: Again: Shameful + I hope the owner now sees the poor choice they made in hiring this fool - turning AWAY paying customers.

If I could have given ZERO stars I would have. We have never had a pleasurable experience food wise here, but Market Roost was closed, so we figured,
lets try it.. What a mistake! We walked in the front door, and within seconds the Chef/Owner and his wife were literally yelling from 50 feet away that we cannot bring outside beverages in the restaurant. One, we were looking for a garbage and two too make such a scene and lose $40 of revenue and a customer is ridiculous. How about walk over nicely, explain your policy like a normal respectful business owner and we toss them and spend $$ in your restaurant

The food there is always well prepared, well seasoned and delicious. They have tasty creative options but it is hard not to keep going back to your old favorites. Omelets, breakfast burrito, pancakes all amazing. Top 5 hash browns I have ever had. Well seasoned and crispy, they could stand alone not just as an obligatory side. They are friendly and have incorporated memorabilia from around town. They are part of the downtown landscape for sure!

Heading from south Jersey up to the Delaware Water Gap & found this very groovy joint along our journey, the Key Lime Breakfast Wrap was HUGE & incredibly delicious as were the pancakes. The home fries make your mouth water & the coffee was the best. Our waitress Serena was outstanding, attentive & enjoyable to engage with. We will definitely stop here again. Highly recommend making the JS Shaker Cafe a stop along your way!!

Historic downtown Flemington, NJ, isn't what it used to be. The beautiful Union Hotel on Main Street is boarded up. The old Hunterdon County Courthouse where the famous Lindbergh kidnapping trial was held in the presence of the international press in 1932 is now a forgotten dusty corner.
It is up to the new generation to save this burg and restore its pride with new energy. I was thinking of how the mighty had fallen when I walked into the JS Shaker Cafe on the west side of Main. A homey looking luncheonette with counter and kitchen in back behind a large dining room, I was greeted immediately

This place is AMAZING. The service is fantastic, even when the cranky older men bark orders at the sweet waitresses they're delightful. Food was excellent and the pancakes are bomb!!! A little hidden gem in Flemington. So pleased with the service, such a little operation of only three people but boy do they hustle. Can't wait to come back!

Sadly, a very disappointing experience on a Main Street that so desperately needs some love. First off, the place was freezing (12/23). The owner is obviously too frugal to keep the heat on. The table next to us actually got up and left before ordering because they were too cold. The place had just one server - who was quite literally running back and forth. She really was trying hard. We were informed that as the place was so busy (only 6 tables occupied), the chef was taking absolutely NO substitutions. We couldn't even remove the potatoes from the breakfast (we weren't adding anything

Had breakfast here. Service was good though it wasn't crowded at the time. French toast, pancakes and omelets were good and sizable portions. The only reason for 3 stars is the coffee wasn't good. Maybe we got a pot that was sitting for a while though it was early. Would try again though. If the coffee was good, this place would be a hidden gem.

Went here this morning after church. New to Flemington and tired of the same old places. Yelp offered a 10 percent coupon to check in so I thought... let's just try it. I got the egg white omelette with avocado. The portion size was good and it was filling but for me it was a little flavorless. I added some hot sauce but that did not help. The hot sauce wasn't hot. I might have wanted a coffee refill but the waitress brought the check and said "anytime you're ready" without offering a refill, and in her defense I did not ask. When I presented the yelp 10 percent off coupon

Delicious, and very large, brooklyn omelette, with salmon, potato, onion!
We stumbled upon JS when wandering through Flemington, and decided to try somewhere new. I am gluten free, and the waitress was very helpful in accomodating. I will add a note of warning for those who are celiac. The toast is gf, however, it goes into the same toaster as the regular toast. I was also offered gf fries, but again they go into the same fry basket as other non-gluten foods, so they also were a no go for me. The waitress was so sweet, understood once I explained. Just be sure to ask the questions, if needing

Just passed by the town today and I was looking for a place for brunch. I was just wandering around and entered this restaurant by random pick, and I glad I did. Interior was simple but u can absolutely find elegance details around. The owner gave me a big welcome and suggested me trying their special: the sunflower roll, which have grilled chicken, bacon, tomatoes and other vegis wrapped into. And i order sunny side up eggs as well. Oh my! The roll is gorgeous and tasted so refreshing, and the eggs itself just cook in perfectly shape. The meal was big I didn't manage to finish it. I&apos

Great place! Service is always good and the omelettes and French toast are incredible. If it is a little slow, the owner comes out and tries to get to know you. A great casual place to catch up with friends. I highly recommend trying the South Beach egg white omelette (pictured). Definitely worth trying and you'll always leave here full!

The "cappuccino " was, apparently, some kind of mix or something...a not drinkable, bitter swamp in a cup.
The smell of grease greats you at the door, outside!
I shoulda known.
Only three other customers here and still the guy was spectacularly inefficient getting us coffee, taking our order.
Eggs were ok. This is America and it's hard to screw up eggs.
