Hedquist Eye Care opened its doors in 2018. Centrally located in Sioux City, Iowa; Hedquist Eye Care provides vision care and vision correction to people from all over the mid-west and beyond. We offer amazing lenses to optimize vision and frames that are stylish, lightweight, durable, and comfortable.
Regular eye care helps ensure a lifetime of clear, comfortable vision, as well as, ensuring the prescription is up-to-date. Blurry vision can effect driving, work, school, and reduce the ability to enjoy the world around us. We encourage our patients to have an eye examination yearly. During the exam, we check vision, as well as, look for ocular problems including glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts, and other ocular health problems.
It has been said that the "eyes are the window to the soul". They are the first thing people see when meeting you and reflect moods and personalities. It is important to the team at Hedquist Eye Care that the frame enhances each person's unique facial features. Ugly, poor fitting glasses could cause a negative first impression, however great looking glasses could result in a very positive first impression.
Contact lenses are available in almost every prescription and allow for freedom from glasses. We fit all types of contact lenses to improve vision. We have thousands of diagnostic lenses on hand to fit most patients the day of the exam. Nearsightedness, farsightedness, presbyopia, and astigmatism may be corrected with many different types of contact lenses.
Macular degeneration - also called Age-related macular degeneration, or ARMD - is deterioration of the macula, which is the small central area of the retina of the eye that controls visual acuity. Yearly eye examinations help to detect AMD at its earliest stages. A cataract is a cloudiness of the eye's natural lens, which lies between the front and back areas of the eye, directly behind the pupil.

What a great outcome to a scary situation. My daughter was seeing flashes of light out of the corner of her eye. We got in to see Hedquist within a few hours after my phone call. He was patient, knew his stuff and put my daughter at ease. The staff were friendly as well! I would definitely recommend them!

Normally I would give Dr. Hedquist a 5 star rating. Not any more. I called this morning for an emergency appointment because over the weekend my puppy got a hold of my glasses while I was sleeping and basically ruined them. I explained this to the receptionist. She told me she was booking pretty far out to July 12; basically three weeks. I asked if an accommodation be made given the situation as I can't drive nor am I unable to work. Obviously it would be disastrous for me to have to wait that long to see my eye doctor. She told me she could not make any accommodations. I told her I like the

Dr. Hedquist always gives great advice and doesn't make you feel bad about less than perfect contact-care-habits. The staff are always very friendly, funny, and helpful. I always have good things to say when telling others about my eye doctor and I'm glad he has opened his own practice. I greatly enjoy the convenience of the downtown location as well.

Truly cares about patient. Never rushes. Answers all questions. Very patient with children. He could have told me I needed glasses and I would have believed him but he told me just to go get some cheap readers. Which goes to prove he's not out to just make money but do what's best for the customer. My son has an issue with his eyes and I will never go any place else because he didn't just give him a pair of glasses like the last eye doctor. He created a plan of action on how to solve the problem not just put a Band-Aid on the problem which might make it.
