The Building Contractors Association (BCA) was established by nine prominent New York City commercial contractors in 1933 under the name Building Contractors Employers Association, Inc. These contractors were reacting to changes in the building industry brought about by federal legislation that strengthened the rights of workers to form unions and created the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).
The primary purpose of the Building Contractors Association is to provide negotiation and administration of collective bargaining agreements with the Building Trades Unions. Currently the BCA negotiates and finalizes numerous agreements throughout the five boroughs of New York City, Nassau, Suffolk and Westchester counties.
The Building Contractors Association, Inc. ("BCA") is Metropolitan New York's leading membership association of unionized construction contractors. Since its formation in 1933, the BCA has represented and promoted the general welfare and interests of its construction industry employer members.

The Building Contractors Association (BCA), has established the following committees for the benefit of the association and its members. Committee members serve at the invitation of the BCA President. Investigates and reviews all membership applications and submits findings and recommendations to the BCA Board of Directors.
Membership in the BCA allows construction managers and general contractors to remain on the cutting-edge of the construction industry-with access to the latest legislative, safety, workforce development and training and other industry-wide advancements.
