Services
It has long been said that the in criminal law, you have bad people at their best, while in family law, you have good people at their worst. Mr. Robbins often says that if you want the meanest, nastiest attorney in Flagstaff, you don't want him to represent you. But he adds that in family law court "mean and nasty" is not only expensive, it is usually counterproductive and inappropriate in a family law case.
Custody, divorce and family law cases are extremely stressful. Numerous studies have shown that the two most stressful events in a person's life are divorce and the death of a spouse, far outweighing events such as the birth of a child, being fired, moving out of state, and getting married. During the divorce process, you need to focus on being good to yourself and taking care of yourself.
If the case can be settled, and your spouse or partner does not file an Answer, then there is no need for Disclosure & Discovery. For that reason, our office often offers a open extension of time for the filing of an Answer. If an Answer is filed then under the Arizona Rules of Family Law Procedure (ARFLP) each party has detailed disclosure requirements which are in Rule 49, ARFLP.
The worst thing to do, if you've been served with a Dissolution of Marriage (Divorce) court papers or Paternity court papers, is to do nothing. Being "served" includes the signing of a blank form acknowledging that you have received a document. It can even be as simple as signing for an envelope from a Postal Carrier, or a delivery service such as FedEx or UPS can result in you being served.
Mr. Robbins can make referrals in other associated areas of law, such as Pre-Nupital Agreements and Tribal Court cases where he does not practice. Many of these areas overlap.

For example, a non-parent can obtain custody of a child from a biological parent through a Power of Attorney, a Guardianship, Grandparent Custody, an In Loco Parentis Petition, a Child Protective Services Dependency, a Private Dependency Petition, Termination of Parental Rights and an Adoption. Each of these areas has different rules and each produces different outcomes.

While Gary is a nice man, I feel he is overwhelmed and a bit scattered at times. He gave up. Becoming a sycophant to the opposition and I ended up with a very one sided draconian decree. Basically he did not act in my best interest. Very disappointing.

I have never met a lawyer who cares so much about their clients. Mr. Robbins, has taken care of my family just as his own. He has a wall with pictures of the kids and families he has helped to remind him of his focus, taking care of families who are overwhelmed in the family court system. Mr. Robbins truly cares about the families he represents. He is blessed to have the opportunity of helping families. I consider him a part of my family, and send him photos of my kids and how happy they are regularly. You should consider Mr. Robbins first if you want someone so passionate about his work.

Gary gave me an excellent initial consultation. I liked his approach that emphasized calm and rational consideration of all the options during a highly emotional experience. Gary actually helped me do the legal paperwork I needed pro bono, If I need representation later in my case, I will definitely retain Gary.
