Balletschool

During the regular school year, the school provides Ballet classes with professional instruction following the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus. The emphasis is on proper technique and performance style in accordance with the body's stage of development. The method caters to any student - whether considering dance as a career or just for enjoyment.

Each day dancers will learn various aspects of ballet including technique, pointe, pas de deux, mime, character work, stage make-up and ballet history. There will be a presentation on Friday at 3:30 for family and friends at our lab theatre. Tuition: Single class $22, ($15 with undergraduate & graduate student ID) 6 class card $110 (5 class card $73 with undergraduate/graduate student ID) Cards are good for 1 year.

We are sad to announce that Moscow Ballet's Nutcracker performance has been canceled for 2020. 2019 Nutcracker was a great success again! Each year the BalletSchool of Charlottesville hosts the Moscow Ballet's the Great Russian Nutcracker. Over 50 young dancers auditioned with the Moscow Ballet and rehearsed with instructors from the BalletSchool during the Fall 2019 semester.

1. Be on time: For the development of dancers body, it is very important to join the class from the beginning. In the performing arts world 'on time' generally means to arrive 15 minutes early so that you have adequate time to prepare before starting class fully dressed and on time. 3. Hair: If it is long enough to go into a ponytail, female students are required to have their hair in a neat and tidy ballet bun for class.
