Sewell Animal Hospital is a well-established, full-service, small animal veterinary hospital providing comprehensive medical, surgical and dental care. The various other pages of this website will provide you with various detail on the services and care our clinic provides. Dr. F.Y.S. Moore began practicing veterinary medicine on this very plot of land by at least 1920.
As a graduate from Ontario, he recieved his veterinary certificat from the state of Oklahoma in 1918 (see image to right). He practice veterinary medicine in the building pictured below until 1957 when he turned his clinic over to Dr. T.A. Byrd. Dr. Byrd was a graduate of Oklahoma A&M Veterinary College in 1953.

Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, we stress the importance of an annual physical examination. Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems. Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services: Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets' complete health care needs.
Thank you for your cooporation in letting us assist you. I understand that prior to treatment or boarding, a full explanation of the fees will be given by the veterinarian and/or staff in the care of my animal(s). In the event that I cannot be reached but my pet needs treatment, I authorize the doctor to use her medical judgment to best treat my pet.
My name is Kara Pace & I have worked with Dr. Sewell for going on 5 years. I achieved my certification from Kiamichi Technology Centers, but would love to further my education when the time is right. I have 3 fuzzy children, my cat named Pepe & two black labs. Ruger is the big brother (and good role model) for our youngest dog Reign.
To allow ample time for all patients and scheduled surgical procedures, we operate primarily by appointment. Emergency cases shall always receive top priority, which is why occasional appointment delay is inevitable. Please realize that we make a sincere attempt to see each client on time.
Scheduled appointments arriving later than 15 minutes after scheduled time will be asked to reschedule or drop the pet off to avoid longer wait time for our other appointments.For your convenience, drop-off' appointments are available. A 'drop off' means you could bring your pet at the time that works best for you and leave him/her with us for a couple of hours.

I love my dog Bella, she is a Boxer and English bulldog mix, and so I just don't trust some of the Vet's out there to take care of her. We have had some bad experiences. I love Dr. Sewell and her staff. They are kind to the animals that I have seen come in, and they have been very kind to my Bella They have always listened and answer all my concerns and questions. Very knowledgeable.
But like I said, the main thing for me is that they are kind and caring and so the animals don't mind seeing Dr. Sewell and that goes along way in my book.

I cannot say enough good things about the wonderful Dr. Sewell & her staff! I have witnessed firsthand how much they really care: A few years ago on a Sunday evening, my puppy got very sick very quickly & Dr. Sewell opened her clinic to evaluate him & provide some much-needed medication. She’s a saint! If you are anywhere near the McAlester area & require veterinary services, look no further.
