All orthodontists must be licensed to specialize in orthodontics, but at this time only 1 in 3 orthodontists have continued on to complete certification to become a Board Certified Orthodontist. The American Board of Orthodontics (ABO) certification process signifies a unique achievement-a significant step beyond the two to three years of advanced education required for a dentist to become a specialist in orthodontics.
Our goal at Optimal Orthodontics of Humble is to make orthodontic treatment affordable for everyone with easy financing options. As a matter of convenience to patients, your orthodontist also offers an automatic draft from checking accounts or credit cards. We will review all the fees associated with treatment and the financial options available during your complimentary orthodontic consultation.
As a courtesy to you and your family dentist, we will always discuss the feasibility of braces or tooth straightening without charging a fee. There may be a co-payment for X-rays and other diagnostic procedures. As a rule of thumb, we like to evaluate young patients after the 6-year molars erupt and the front permanent teeth just start to appear.
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that most children should have an orthodontic screening by age 7 to decide if they are candidates for early orthodontics. This allows the orthodontist to determine the best time for the patient to be treated. Many of the dentists in our community have been trained to identify orthodontic problems early, and may refer you to our office earlier than age 7.
Adults seek orthodontic treatment for many of the same reasons as children. Some adults had orthodontic problems as children but were unable to correct them until now. Others, who had treatment as children, may need further treatment as adults due to relapse or limitations in initial treatment. Correct relapse after previous orthodontic treatment due to lack of long-term retainer wear.

My son got his braces here in 2019 and my daughter just got hers put on last month. We had been going to another dentist who had been pressing us to prepay. There was something desperate in his pleas and so we postponed getting them. Turns out he was going out of business and all the parents who had prepaid lost their entire investment. This place has been in business for years. They never pressured us into getting braces. My daughter and I began services with Dr. Rena in Humble. I chose this practice over others for two very critical reasons: the office was open for orthodontic visits on Tuesdays, the only day of the week I have morning availability, and it took me 5 minutes to get there from home, and 10 minutes from work. This place is amazing. Rana Mehr and her team are amazing. My children and I have braces and we look forward to our visit. The office has a children playroom to keep the kids entertained but you won’t need it. We’re always in and out. I’ve been monthly “visitors” since October 2017 and the patient care hasn’t changed.

All the staff is so knowledgeable, nice, & professional. They are all well trained. The office is modern & their technology is up to date. I highly recommend checking this awesome place out!

I have been in braces for a year now! So far, my experience with Dr. Mehr has been awesome. Dr. Mehr and her team have taken great care of my teeth. I feel very welcome at my visits and get treated like family. The staff knows what they are doing and they are nice. The place is really clean. You need to check this place out!
