Frumento's Italian Deli
In 1951, dad joined the navy and specialized as a purchasing agent on board his ship and later stationed in northern California. Dad met my mother (Barbara Viola) while home on leave and they began their long distance courtship. Mom's grandparents were immigrants from Naples Italy in the late 1800's.

Mom and Dad married in 1956 and soon began what would be their 7 future Frumento's Italian Market and Deli employees. Upon discharge from the navy, mom and dad returned to Los Angeles and in 1958 decided to open their own Italian Market where it still stand today on Beverly blvd in Montebello. My father worked seven days a week while mom worked seven days a week at home raising seven children.

I have been coming to this deli for YEARS. And it always hits the spot. I usually get their Cesar salad, their lettuce is always green and fresh. They also have a kale salad that is good. I used to eat their sandwiches and those are good as well. They pack it with a bunch of deli meat and their bread is nice and thick. Definitely recommend.

Dom the same cashier I encounter always has an attitude like if I ruined his day? Other than that the food is good but he needs to chill.

Just wanted to thank the Frumentos for catering my grandmother's funeral.. My grandparents were friends with the original owners of the Deli, Barbara and Tony. I can remember going there as a child. We were lucky to have taken my grandparent for a meal there at Frumentos before my grandma passed. Thank you, AJ, for greeting them then and for allowing my family to literally make one call to you to handle everything for after the funeral. The food was delicious, hot and plentiful. We ALL need to continue to support small, family businesses!! If we are ever in the area again, we will

I Im sharing this review because I have never been disappointed in this deli before! I have lived in Montebello for over 45 years, and have been coming to this deli for most of my adulthood.
I walked into the deli today and bought sauce, pasta, and a sandwich. Initially, I walked up to the counter there & there were a couple of things I was charged for that I did not order. (He was nice & apologized) I just assumed everything was cool, not a big deal, since all of their food is delicious, every time.

Great food
Great service

Okay I got the shrimp scampi and it was good but the GARLIC BREAD LIKE WHAT? IT WAS SO GOOD...

Before that I got the meatball sub which was tasty but I realized I am not a big fan of meatball subs. It's just Joey from friends makes it seem so good lol.

The artichoke side dish forgot what it was called is good and so is the pesto thing.

I ordered the "Italy's kiss" sub. Wow. Everything was so fresh from the bread to the prosciutto. I really have nothing negative to say besides the prices are a bit higher than expected but honestly I felt like the quality was worth it.

This place is the quintessential local mom n pop restaurant that has built a legacy in Montebello by delivering consistent, delicious and high quality food made with love. I've tried so many of their sandwiches over the years, I buy my pepperoni from here for my homemade pizzas. Seriously one of the best restaurants in montebello.

Their mile high sandwich is crazy delicious

So i was here cause i was craving Italian deli after a night of drinking.
I got to say, the mile high was epic as people have reviewed.
Ordered also the meat ball sub with Italian sausage sub (forgot the name), and if your a fan of Italian meatballs, its a must get. Only four stars because i had to wait in my opinion too long of a time to get my order.
But the flavors was worth it.

Gotten to-go and goodness their full-sized subs are HUGE. Pastrami is my usual go to and while it's not The Hat, I appreciate how tender and juicy their pastrami is even though it has probably only quarter of the fat than the pastrami at The Hat. The bread isn't as impressive due to its denser structure, but it serves as a good vessel to balance out the meatiness and flavors and sops up the juices.

Lasagna with meat sauce is also pretty solid; the sauce gives that really rustic, meaty feeling to it that you can tell is home made in a large tub. It's meat-forward, has a good

TIME: EATEN IN THE CAR RIGHT AFTER RECEIVING
ORDERED: Mile High Club with 2 sides, garlic pesto potatoes and broccoli (total:$~19)

I need to go back. Right away. Pictures are EXACTLY as they look and describe! The mile-high club consists of 3 types of meat: pastrami, lean roast beef, and corned beef. Then you have the swiss cheese stacked and grilled on sliced corn rye with mayo, mustard, dill pickle chips, and Roma tomato. It's topped off with a dollop of their coleslaw. And let me tell ya, I tasted ALL OF IT. I had to taste it in different bites because this sandwich was too big to fit
