Gold Leaf Estate Planning
By having a health care directive, your family can avoid spending thousands of dollars on a costly guardianship proceeding if you become incapacitated and cannot make medical decisions for yourself. A power of attorney is a legal document that allows you to name someone else to make decisions on your behalf if you are incapacitated or unable to make decisions for yourself relating to financial or legal matters.

Talk to an experienced Minnesota probate attorney to see if there are ways for you to avoid probate in Minnesota. We don't have a crystal ball. We don't know what twists and turns life may bring. What we do know is that failing to have the proper planning in place can lead to unintended results for you and your family.
Services
We are a Minnesota Estate Planning and Probate Law Firm dedicated to helping individuals and families achieve peace of mind knowing that their loved ones will be taken care of when they are gone. Zach Wiegand has been named a Minnesota Super Lawyer - Rising Star for the past five years (2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 & 2021).
Sign up for a free consultation to discuss your goals and create strategies for your estate plan. Attorney Zach Wiegand will give you a recommendation for your estate plan and he will tell you the exact flat fee cost for creating that plan. You will review all of your documents with your attorney and ensure that your plan meets your needs.
When you have a will-based estate plan, you will not avoid probate, but you will make things easier on your family. A will is a letter to the probate court with instructions on who gets your stuff when you die. Rather than having the court decide who will get your assets, having a will allows you to choose who will receive those assets and also who will take care of your children by selecting guardians for children who are minors.
By having a health care directive, your family can avoid spending thousands of dollars on a costly guardianship proceeding if you become incapacitated and cannot make medical decisions for yourself. A Minnesota health care directive is a legal document that allows you to name someone else to make health care decisions for you if you are incapacitated and unable to do so yourself.
In 2021, decedents may pass up to $3,000,000 in assets to whomever they want without paying any estate tax. Note, however, that you may give an unlimited amount of assets to either a spouse or charity free of estate tax. If the first spouse dies and everything passes to the surviving spouse, the first spouse to die has given up his or her ability to preserve their estate tax exemption amount.

Zach and his team are true professionals! We had the pleasure of working with Zach when my mom passed away in 2019. He helped us navigate her estate plan (done by someone else). He helped make a difficult time a little more manageable. We had a such good experience with Zach that my husband and I decided we had procrastinated putting together our own estate plan long enough!! Zach then helped us with our own estate plan! Zach was very patient with our lack of knowledge regarding estate planning and walked us through every step. I would highly recommend Zach for any estate planning needs!

We had the pleasure of working with Zach in a unique transfer of temporary guardianship for school and hockey decisions regarding our 16yr old son. He chose to move from Minnesota to Ohio to help further his education and to pursue an opportunity he was offered to further his hockey career. While this isn't necessarily what Zach specializes in, he was happy to jump in and help get the job done. I would highly recommend Zach for any planning. Top Notch service and execution. No one better in the business!!

Estate planning can be a daunting and stressful task. I was fortunate to find an adult enrichment class offered to the community a few months ago, it seemed like a simple way to get some basic knowledge at little cost. The class was very informative, so much so, that I made an appointment with the instructor right on the spot. Zachary was my estate planning agent and made my experience a smooth encounter. He is very professional, yet personable. Zachary has a passion for his business and went above and beyond to make sure he was creating a plan that was perfectly tailored to my estate planning

Zach stepped up to help a family that quickly needed help transferring temporary guardianship. Zach did a tremendous job taking care of all of the details and successfully working with the legal systems in both Minnesota and Ohio so that a young aspiring hockey player could reach his goals. Zach is a true professional with great knowledge and communication skills. He is a first class person that I would highly recommend!

Zach created an estate plan for my wife & I. He worked through each question we had, each 'what if' we presented, and helped us understand how everything worked. Being new to this, we had a lot of questions. We are glad to have someone so patient and professional on our side to get our affairs in order. Thanks Zach, we really appreciate the time you took helping us & ensuring our daughters are protected in the future.

I set up a meeting with Zak. New next to nothing about Will's. Went in to get a Will written up and ended up with a Trust. One of the better decisions I have made. Not a shifty bone in his body, no buyers remorse. He made it pretty painless. Found out this is all he does are Will's and Trust's. After this experience I now see why.

Zach helped put us at ease creating an estate plan for my husband and I. He broke down the complicated items into scenarios we could easily understand, to help us create a plan that gave us such peace of mind. He took the time to come to our office to meet one on one and work together with us, going over every detail and every question. He's beyond thorough, responsive, and kind. I also really liked that he made it clear that follow up questions are not going to cost us extra $$. Highly recommend working with him to create your estate plan, don't hesitate!

Zach has helped me tremendously in dealing with my elderly mother's estate and trust. He is efficient and does everything that he says he's going to do. He stays in contact, and follows up on everything. His costs are extremely reasonable and there are no surprises. He is upfront with his pricing. He also referred me to another attorney for the real estate aspect of my situation, and that was outstanding as well!! A+++
