Since 2002, Helton House has been providing residential and day services to a variety of individuals with the hope of providing personalized, family-oriented care. Our services strive to support individuals in becoming valued, fully integrated members of the local community by assisting them with accessing the full range of community services and activities which are available.
Our owners, Michael and Edward Helton, are brothers who have been providing services to those with intellectual disabilities and mental illness for over 20 years. We believe in giving back to our local community. Each year Helton House program participants volunteer in various community programs throughout Central Virginia.

Services
The mission of the programs operated by Helton House, Inc. is to provide skill building, safety supports and other person-centered support services to individuals diagnosed with mental, developmental, and intellectual disabilities. These programs are carried out in an environment where individual rights and personal choices are respected.
Helton House currently has two Assisted Living Facilities (ALF) that are licensed by the Department of Social Services. Our ALF homes provide care to adults with a varying degree of mental illness and support needs. Our ALF homes have a high staff to resident ratio to ensure that the residents receive the personal attention that is needed.
Helton House currently has seven DD Waiver residential group homes. Our homes are licensed by the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services. We provide training in the homes such as self-care, communication, independent living skills, behavior management, and community living skills.
Helton House has both a center based (Group Day Services) and non-center based (Community Engagement) day program. Our day support programs provide skill-building support for the improvement of self-advocacy, self and environmental awareness, socialization, community integration, behavior modification, and daily living skills to name a few.
