Reducing the amount of ultraviolet light exposure by wearing a wide-brim hat and sunglasses may reduce your risk for developing a cataract but once developed there is no cure except to have the cataract surgically removed. Early detection through regular eye exams can help maintain the clearest vision possible.
The Retina is a transparent, photoreceptives heath of cells lining the interior of your eyes. The retina consists of many nerve cells and is considered an extension of your brain. The two main cells of the Retina are Rods and Cones. The Rods are mostly responsible for vision in low light ("night vision"), black and white vision, and peripheral (side) vision.
Glaucoma includes a group of conditions that cause damage to the optic nerve. These can often develop over many years without causing pain - so you may not experience vision loss until the disease has progressed. Glaucoma cannot be prevented, and vision lost to it cannot be restored. Left untreated, glaucoma can cause blindness.
Patients with diabetes are at an increased risk of developing eye diseases that can cause vision loss and blindness, such as diabetic retinopathy, cataracts and glaucoma. These and other serious conditions often develop without vision loss or pain, so significant damage may be done to the eyes by the time the patient notices any symptoms.
Dry eye is the term for when your eyes are insufficiently moisturized, either because they do not produce enough tears or because the tears have an improper chemical composition.
It often occurs during the natural aging process, but it can also form as a result of eyelid or blinking problems, certain medications (antihistamines, oral contraceptives, antidepressants), climate (low humidity, wind, dust), injury, and various health problems (arthritis, Sjgren's syndrome). In addition to being uncomfortable, dry eye can damage eye tissue, scar the cornea and impair vision.

Early this morning (12/23/2021) I had a wrestling match with my Labrador. The dog won. I received a nice little corneal abrasion in the process. I tried to play mister tough guy, but only lasted a couple of hours. I called Shasta Eye Medical Group. Within 90 minutes I was seen by the doctor, prescribed antibacterial eye drops and was on my way to the pharmacy!
This has been my experience with several other visits as well. Iād like to give a shout out to the reception staff, medical assistants and Dr. Brink. Efficient, professional and compassionate. Why would anybody go anywhere else!

Receptionist who was trying to schedule a referral appointment told me several lies in as many minutes. She said they didn't make one single cent on any patient treatment that was paid for with Medicare or Partnership. She said they do all those procedures for free. RIGHT!! Pertnership pays better then most insurance companies in our state.
She told me she had handled all of my calls then when I asked why she was still trying to schedule a appointment that I told her not to schedule, she told me that the girl who had handled my other calls was to blame. Until I reminded her she said she had been

I had a very good experience-I was seen on time and the technician who did most of the eye testing was very pleasant and efficient. He explained procedures and answered questions in good detail. I appreciate the extra effort staff made to get my eye scans just right, they performed one test/scan a few times until they were satisfied with the results.
