Services
Our staff has been through a rigorous interview and vetting process which includes a nationwide background check. We believe your student's instructor should be able to captivate the class while leading with integrity. Maura Herrera attended Towson University on a Dance Recruitment Scholarship. She earned a BFA in Dance Performance and was awarded the Jean Snyder Technical Excellence Award out of her graduating class.
For our youngest dancers starting at 1.5 years old, this class will explore the basics of ballet and tap, while engaging in activities essential to development in coordination, recognizing music and rhythms, counting and timing, and self-confidence. This is a fun and exciting opportunity for Moms to be a part of their child's dance education.
ANNUAL REGISTRATION FEE: All families must pay a non-refundable registration fee of $30 per family (which is assessed every March). If new students join after March, they will be prorated. SIBLINGS DISCOUNT: If you have two students from the same family taking classes, you could qualify for the Sibling Discount.

We LOVE this dance studio! All of the teachers are so great and clearly love what they do. The office staff is welcoming, helpful, available and accommodating. The owner is very kind and also super helpful. We love that they use age appropriate costumes, dance moves and music. As long as we are living in North County, this is where we will dance! My family and I absolutely love our ASA community which we've been part of for the last 10 years! My now nine-year-old was just two when she took her first class at ASA and we have been here ever since!! In addition to the quality technique and age-appropriate moves and music we appreciate, we have come to know the hearts of the owners, who are in it for the right reasons. I never doubt that their top consideration is the kids as they make decisions related to the studio. The atmosphere is casual and comfortable, without pretense or competition, and my daughter has a blast while learning lots in a healthy environment. We're SO thankful for ASA!

My daughter has been dancing at this studio for almost 9 years. We love our ASA family! The music and costumes are family friendly and age appropriate, the tuition is very affordable, and the teachers are great role models for my tween who is very impressionable right now! This non-competitive studio is a hidden gem in Vista. Don't be fooled by their humble location, they put on an amazing recital every year!

ASA dance studio USED to be the most affordable studio in the Oceanside, Vista, San Marcos area. But, they have consistantly increased their prices every year now and now Match just about every studio in the area. With the cities mentioned being a prominent military area, I feel they should offer military discounts to those families who serve our country. Especially with the prices going up as they have been. Competitor studios offer military discounts, sibling discounts, referral discounts etc. The only big thing now that sets this studio apart from others is that the costumes are age appropriate

I cannot say enough good things about this dance studio. My girls (ages 3 & 5) started taking classes here in February 2018, and from dance classes to annual recitals to summer camps, all of it has been nothing short of a wonderful experience. The instructors are talented, passionate and so great with the children. We recently moved out of state and will miss A Step Above but highly recommend them to anyone in the area.

A great family centered organization! The teachers really know their stuff! Dance music is varied and clean. Costumes are appropriate, colorful and add to the dance visualization. I previously had my granddaughters at another studio where the competition team was all that mattered, some of the music was a little raunchy, and the costumes were quite immodest. A Step Above lives up to their name! So impressed with what Miss Chelsea and her husband Chris have created! HIGHLY RECOMMEND. They do have an amazing Company (team of dancers) yet they give balance to those who think of dance as a hobby

A step above dance studio took my energetic three year old and turned her into an adorable dancer. I bring my 11-year-old daughter here, our first dance studio and hopefully our only! Teachers are so involved in teaching students. *Ms Abby* is spectacular with kids, super patient and positive. Great atmosphere for learning. We started off with the Hip Hop 1 class and got hooked on the dance studio. We did our first recital-- massive production very well executed. One complaint I should add is getting into classes can be somewhat difficult-- always full, but I guess that's a good sign.

Lots of classes, days/times available. My daugther started at 3 and she loves her weekly pre ballet/tap class. Classes are small so each child gets attention. Overall the studio itself is kept up and as a parent you are well informed. They have yearly recitals in the spring that your child performs in which gives you the opportunity to see everything from pre-k to high school. If you are looking for something fun for your child to do weekly this is it! Gives them the opportunity to express themselves and interact with peers.

Our daughter was taking dance at another studio for a couple years and I feel she has learned more in the last few months than she did at her last school. The class is very well organized with a teacher (She takes from Miss Kathie) and a teacher's helper. I love that I do not have to worry about the language being used (by the teachers or the music) and I love the teaching. Pricing is hard to beat! We are planning on signing our littlest up soon too!

We (my wife) recently signed our daughter up for beginner tap and ballet lessons here and I must say while I am not a dancer, I was impressed by the staff here. The rates make it easy to get your child started, but the staff really does give them some great hands on instruction...not just loud music and kiddos dancing around for an hour. Even with a room full of 4 and 5 year olds...the two instructors went hands on with all of them, making them comfortable and seeing that they actually got something out of their hour+ session. We LOVE A Step Above Dance Studio and Mrs. Chelsey. My daughter has been dancing with Mrs. Chelsey for the past 10 years. Chelsea is an amazing dance teacher and our daughter has loved learning from her for the last year and a half. Their prices are COMPLETELY reasonable and not only is she a great dance teacher, but they put together a fantastic recital each June. There are plenty of classes and times to choose from and their focus is much more on dancing than spending a fortune on costumes.
