Dr. Neil S. Kalin is a board-certified ophthalmologist with over 20 years of experience, providing patients with comprehensive care at his practice in Newark, Delaware. In addition to his practice duties, Dr. Kalin also holds admitting privileges at Christiana Care Hospital Systems. He is licensed in Delaware and Maryland.
We make it very easy to make an appointment with us. You can either call us, or e-mail us and we will call you. Once you make an appointment, we do request that you take your appointment time seriously, since we are reserving time specifically for you. We ask that if there is any reason that you cannot keep a scheduled appointment, please give us at least 24 hours notice.
Your first visit to our practice establishes a vital foundation for our relationship with you. During the first visit, we make sure to obtain important background information and give you time to get to know your doctor. Dr. Kalin performs complete eye examinations as well as office visits for routine care and the management of eye diseases. This includes examination for glasses and contact lenses. During a complete eye exam, you can expect your eyes to be dilated. It is helpful to have dark glasses or someone else to drive you home, as dilation will blur your vision.
Dr. Kalin provides eye exams by appointment. These range from routine examinations for glasses or contact lenses to complex medical exams for glaucoma, macular degeneration, or diabetic retinopathy. The exam begins by testing your vision. A comprehensive exam also involves testing the side vision, eye movements, and pupils.

Awesome doctor!!! Very thorough in examination and discussion of reselts. Well run office with fabulous staff. Very good safety measures in place to be proactive during the pandemic. In all sincerity this Doctor and staff saved my life and ithe quality of my life. His knowledge and instinct as a doctor saw me seen same day due to my symptoms (and the office was not open to patients at that time of day to patients) The office went above and beyond and I couldn't be more grateful for how he illustrated urgency for me to be tested and seen in less then a week (during covd outbreak) when I couldn't

Receptionist wasn't the most friendly or pleasant, but she was alright- I've see worse.
My appointment was scheduled at 11:15am, i reached at about 11:13am but got in at around 11:25am.
The nurse who did my initial check up was very friendly and pleasant.
The doctor was very friendly and answered all my questions and concerns. I did end up spending a few more bucks than my copay, but the doctor had informed me of the costs before he conducted the tests and I did it willingly.
Dr. Kalin is also very approachable, he did call back when I tried to reach him after my visit over phone and

I had been a patient of Dr. Kalin's since he took over for his father. I started seeing his Father when I was 13 ( I am now 32). So a long time. I love him! He is a great physician. He was the one whom diagnosed me with Occular Migraines. He is very professional, as well as his staff. But he is also very understanding and very easy to talk to. I have never once felt like I was bothering him nor have I felt rushed like I have with several other doctors. I can not say enough about Dr. Kalin!

I've been with Dr Kalin for several years.
His staff is professional, but friendly and his medical rooms clean and organized. Seems to have a lot of senior patients. Relaxing office with low volume classical music and non-hectic atmosphere helps keep visit pleasant.
Dr. Kalin has a serious manor... which I like. Listens to me and explains all my questions.
Had cataract surgery done in Aug 2015. No discomfort or pain what so ever.. Amazing results.... color and clarity in my left eye is fantastic.. ( right eye scheduled in Oct)

Whatever happened to courtesy? The only people that were pleasant were the actual eye doctors and the other patients! The technicians were rude and acted as though they had better things to do than their jobs and didn't explain a thing about what they were doing. This wouldn't have been a problem except I paid $75 for a contact lens exam that I didn't need nor request, and since the technician spent a whopping 5 minutes on my exam the prescription was wrong. During the entire visit, aside from seeing the actual eye doctor, I felt as though I was a nuisance to the technicians and

Was a complete rip off I went in for a small chalazion on my lower eyelid after waiting he came in the room looked at it with a scoop said it was a chalazion gave me a couple numbers to surgeons that could cut it out shook my hand and charged me 110.00 dollars for nothing but telling me what I already knew. I thought he would be able to remove it but that wasn't the case.
