Ian Van Tuyl has excellent communication skills and his knowledge of the boat and the various options produced an outstanding yacht. Ian takes pride in his work and the boat shows it. I had my hopes set on a boat for sale in Shelter Island, and when the boat was taken off the market I was a little disappointed.

I recently purchased a boat from Cruising Yachts, Jeff Jorgensen was my rep. He did a great job. Nice guy, very knowledgeable, knows how to sail. Follow-up service is great thus far as well.
I can understand sellers having issues because most want too much money for their boat even after they fail the survey. Especially in this sellers market.
This was my third survey and it was clean as Jeff said it would be. The other two surveys were with different brokers that I will not mention because one was down right dishonest.
Jeff is honest and to the point and don't even think otherwise.

This review and shout out is long over due. We purchased a Jeanneau 42 DS From Cruising Yachts Five years ago and couldn't have been more pleased with the transaction all handled by Ian. I've owned quite a few sail and power boats over the years and have dealt with a lot of brokers during that time. I have to say Ian Van Tuyl stands out as the very best.

In June 2013, we contracted with licensed yacht broker John Kuony of Cruising Yachts / Sail California to market and sell our 70 LOD motor-sailer. Our main partner had unexpectedly passed away and the sale of the vessel was important to fund his estate and relieve the other partners of an asset that required the decedent's attention. Mr. Kuony accepted the brokerage commission, and suggested a sales price that took into account the urgency of the sale. Based on the conditon of the vessel and our desire for a quick sale, the sale price was set at $775,000, about half her surveyed value.
