Southminster Child Care Center is a mission of the church, organized in 1981 to provide a loving, supportive, safe, and educational environment for the children in our care. Through positive interaction with the children and their families, and by working in a supportive and encouraging manner, we promote health, strength, and well-being to our families.
Designed around the latest scientific early brain development research, this year-round program focuses on enhancing the simple joy of childhood while equipping caregivers to nurture curiosity through exploration. Frog Street Toddler, created by Dr. Pam Schiller, incorporates Dr. Becky Bailey's Conscious Discipline and includes 52 weeks of activity choices specifically created for children ages 18-36 months.
Our enrichment programs encourage children to make their own choices, solve problems and explore their passions and interests independently through fun, hands-on activities. Experiential learning helps children develop perseverance and social-emotional intelligence, making them school-ready, career-ready and life-ready.
Our program is designed for infants through Kindergarten aged children. Our private Pre-K and Kindergarten program is specialized, with a combination of strengths not available at most other schools like our fall reading challenge or our Read-With-Spike programs. We are proud to be a 3-star rated facility through the Tennessee Department of Human Services.

It is a great program! Hands down BEST thing about Southminster is the low ratios. Each class has one teacher, which allows for a calmer environment and less competition for materials and personal space. The teachers are there to help your child grow into their best self using gentle educated guidance and support. I know my son felt loved by them… (and I loved them too!) My son was in Ms T's PreK class and I really miss her teaching style (in comparison to where he is now) She really fostered his love of learning and he LOVED going to school. Also, the end of the year graduation was probably

My children went here in the 1990's and my grandchild finished in Preschool two years ago. All experiences were perfect for a working mother. It was a loving, nurturing staff who prepared them to interact with others for a lifetime as well as the security of knowing they were loved. They utilize developmentally appropriate methods of teaching and learning. I can't wait to see how the legacy continues with the current staff and continued support of one of the Missions of Southminster Presbyterian Church.

Wonderful daycare. We love this place, our little one has been here since she was six months old and we are expecting our second this fall, who will also attend Southminster daycare. It's always tough having to send a child to daycare but it's been such a great experience for us. The staff are great and we honestly feel Southminster is providing one of the best atmospheres for our little one to grow, learn and socialize with her little friends.

My daughter has been at Southminster since she was 12 weeks old. She's about to graduate PreK and head off to Kindergarten. Southminster has been her second family! We have another on the way and there's nowhere else I'd rather our new son be than with his family at Southminster! Leaving your child each day is already hard but knowing they're being loved and nurtured so well makes it an easy adjustment.

Southminster Child Care is a close-knit group of families and staff. They provide a loving and nurturing atmosphere for little ones, and I feel relieved knowing they are genuinely being cared for while they are learning. We've had a wonderful experience in every classroom as our kids have progressed through the center.
