Founded in 2016 in the Point Breeze neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Conturo Prototyping began as a 1,000-square-foot shop. It has quickly grown to a 17,000-square-foot facility complete with 10 multi-axis CNC mills and 3 CNC lathes, primarily because of their agile manufacturing workflow and world class engineering customer support.

After being the technical director of University of Pittsburgh's FSAE Team, John Conturo was more than willing to help out FSAE Team's machining parts and sharing knowledge with the future generation of engineers. Conturo Prototyping sticker on Pitt's race car from 2017, the second year we sponsored and supported the Pitt Panthers.

I've been working with John and his team since he started the company, and have nothing but good things to say. This is my go-to shop for all high precision & complexity parts that most shops would pass on. John is always willing to help refine designs, and work directly with engineers to figure out better ways to make a part. They are one of the faster turnaround shops in the area when needed, and genuinely seem to enjoy complicated machining operations, which expands the design space leading to more interesting options.
