Incorporated in 1862, Alpine Cemetery was designed by William Sanders, renowned for his work on the Washington and Gettysburg National cemeteries. The Alpine Cemetery was originally founded to memorialize Civil War veterans, and as such, it has a specially designated area for those who died in those battles.
This historical site permits the use of both memorials and monuments on its grounds. To better serve the residents of the Perth Amboy community, Alpine has added above-ground and underground mausoleum programs. The cemetery also has a special section dedicated to fallen firefighters. There are over 21,000 people interred at Alpine Cemetery.

The loss of a loved one is never easy. With the combined experience of several hundred years of cemetery service in the profession, we know firsthand how difficult making cemetery arrangements can be. Undeniably, discussing cemetery and funeral arrangements in advance, and advising family members of your wishes, lessens the burden of questions and making decisions at the time of immediate need.
Meaningful memorialization of a loved one's passing can transform, heal, and comfort us. It highlights our loved ones' sacrifices, reminds us of the things that they value, and inspires us with their life stories. Have the Talk of a Lifetime, a program created by The Funeral and Memorial Information Council, was designed to help families have meaningful conversations about the things that matter most in their lives.
We encourage you to get in touch with a cemetery in addition to a funeral home or a mortuary. We can help you arrange and plan for all the details following a funeral service. Pre-planning and pre-payment will protect you from the rising cost of prices, and it will not be a financial burden on your loved ones.

Alpine cemetery is ridiculous they take your loves ones and move them where every they please. They break things that have been given to our loved ones & when you call to complain they nonchalantly dismiss the issue as though you didn't pay for your loved one to be there. This is ridiculous on so many levels.

The grounds supervisor Robert went above and beyond to make sure my family and I had a very pleasant experience. I was overwhelmed with the high level of respect and care he extended to us, well beyond what was required. We are forever grateful and at ease knowing our loved ones resting places are being exceptionally cared for and treated with respect.

Beware any and all decorations placed on grave will be disrespectfully removed by cemetery maintenance and whatever outside company they hire to maintain cemetery. Think twice before purchasing a gravesite in this area. All the decorations Including vases I filled with faux flowers that were partially buried in ground were deliberately removed. BEWARE!

For the Employees of Alpine Cemetery. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. They always greet visitors with a smile and help whenever they can. I know my loved one is in good hands.
P.S. I wish they had bathrooms for visitors when the staff is not around. Its always a hassle trying to find the bathroom. I heard they maybe have a bathroom in the back somewhere when staff isn't around but there are no signs around. I live in NYC so its a bit of a trip.
