ALL LEVELS - Our All Levels classes are taught in a way to welcome and include practitioners of all experience levels. Each class will last for one hour and fifteen minutes. The sequence of poses vary from class to class and our teachers are skilled at adapting as needed for each individual. These classes are typically active and challenging in a good way.
All of our instructors at The Yoga Place are either certified Iyengar teachers or working on becoming certified in the Iyengar method. Becoming an Iyengar Yoga teacher requires years of practice, study, and a rigorous examination of skills. Certified Iyengar instructors teach the method of B.K.S. Iyengar without mixing in other styles or disciplines.
Yoga is an ancient Indian system for developing perfect health of the body, mind and spirit. The practice of yoga poses (asanas) helps maintain or restore physical, physiological, spiritual, and mental well-being. Iyengar Yoga is named after its founder, B.K.S. Iyengar who was born in 1918 in Pune, India.
They make everything from bricks to backbenders to horses, all out of beautiful hardwoods such as oak or cherry. Large items take several weeks to construct. If you see it in the studio and it is made from wood, they can make it for you. Please contact Kurt Grunwald at Shopdads@gmail.com for prices and more information.
You do not have to be "in shape", young and flexible to join a yoga class. Yoga can be done by flexible or stiff people, strong or weak, elderly or young, and also by some people with disabilities. The yoga poses are a unique form of exercise in that the same pose can benefit all body types. Within a class structure, participants are given individual assistance according to their needs.

After having major back surgery I've found Yoga to be one of the best rehab programs. The Yoga Place instructors are extremely competent and knowledgeable regarding the instruction and philosophy of Iyengar Yoga . It has been my experience that their instruction has enhanced my recovery and prevented further injury. As I continue to recover I look forward to taking more classes.

We are so lucky to have such thorough, competent yoga instruction in La Crosse. I started as an injured beginner with a broken collar bone, and was taught with such patience and skill that now I can do things I never dreamed I would be able too! I even got taller! This is one of the best reasons to live in La Crosse.

I've been taking yoga at the Yoga Place for most of the past 30 years, and so appreciate the authentic, clear and well trained teachers! No matter your age or experience, La Crosse's first yoga studio provides quality instruction according to the method developed by the late Sri BKS Iyengar. Insightful and Beneficial, mind body spirit.

Very well trained instructors. Excellent incorporation of props for each person's unique abilities, experience level & limitations. It's Iyengar yoga, which I find to be the most beneficial to the whole body and mind. Been going for a little over two years to help me treat and prevent injuries that have plagued me in my recent middle age years while doing active sports.

Wonderfully welcoming group of instructors and students. Technical (though also approachable) focus of classes support knowledge and growth in poses in a safe manner for all body types, including accomodation with props for preexisting injury or imbalances. Expect holding and refining poses in beginning levels rather than quickly moving through sequences.

Half way through my beginner's session here. Chris does a wonderful job explaining the poses and how we will build on them. The studio is bright, relaxing and clean. Focus is on correct alignment and holding the pose. While in the class it doesn't feel we've worked too hard but my muscles definitely know the next day. I find myself much more aware of posture and breathing. Although it's a beginner's class, there is a range of both age and abilities. Chris is very in tune with her students and shares her deep knowledge and love for yoga. Highly recommend signing up for a

I can't believe this is their first review, but I suppose if you didn't know about The Yoga Place, you'd probably never find it. However, hidden upstairs in the City Square Building on Main Street is a beautiful studio that is guaranteed to change the way you look at yoga. While not a stranger to yoga, the Iyengar method is radically different from any way that I've been taught. From the very first class, you'll actually _feel_ how it's different. Rather than emphasizing flexibility as the #1 most important goal, the Iyengar method teaches proper alignment and

This was the first yoga studio in LaCrosse, it's been around for at least 20 years or more with many of the same teachers. The owner, Chris, is a renowned Iyengar teacher and all of the other teachers were instructed by her and share her same dedication and love of yoga. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone!

I dont think people realize that La Crosse has a world class yoga teacher - Chris Saudek. Chris Saudek holds a Senior Iyengar Yoga Certification - one of the few in the United States. If you are ready to get serious about your yoga practice and want to learn the fine details of each asana come to the yoga place.
