BIG GUY for hire was started in 2005 by John Andrew to serve Southeastern Michigan's 'do it yourself' labor only moving needs. We enjoy doing the jobs we do, and we hope it shows in our customer feedback. We take our job seriously, and strive to promote a safe work environment while maintaining focus on quality and efficiency.
Services
We offer professional moving labor in the Southeastern Michigan area. We specialize in truck or container loading and unloading, local and interstate rental truck driving, and furniture assembly. We tackle office, cubicle and workspace moving and reassembly, organizations, consolidations, art studio moving, trash outs, cleanups, carpet removal, non demolition construction labor, many tasks, just ask!
U-Haul 'Safetow' with the highest damage covereage option is required if you would like us to tow a vehicle. Drive time between loading sites, unloading sites, and/or load and unload is on the clock. We accept credit card payment at the end of the job only if you have access to our payment page.
Deposits are refundable until 2 calendar days before scheduled service (local service only or unless otherwise specified), when they become a credit that is available for a future reservation.Light disassembly and reassembly are included for your furniture items that are made to be taken apart to be moved.

Here we post reviews and feedback for our services that we have received directly and through other websites. We accept feedback via voicemail as well. This is our 3rd time using Big Guy. We have had to move lots of heavy furniture around due to remodeling over the last 5 years. At one point all the furniture on the first floor was moved into the garage.

These guys are top notch, i've had poor experience with moving companies in the past and these guys are what other companies should aspire to be. showed up early to the job and i anticipated it would only take 5 hours to pack our truck to move across the country, it took them close to 10 hours and they never complained, even on a Saturday. we had A LOT of stuff to fit into a 28ft freight trailer, and they worked their magic to fit every last thing.

We ordered a treadmill through NordicTrack and due to COVID the company is no longer offering in home delivery / assembly. There was no way my husband and I would have been able to lift the treadmill to get it where we needed in our home. BigGuyForHire was able to come with less than one day notice to help move the treadmill from our garage to our basement and even assembled it for us! The service was very professional and the guys were very friendly. Would definitely call Big Guy For Hire again for future needs!

We used Big Guy for Hire to move a new washer and dryer (front loaders) that we had gotten from ABC Warehouse. We had the worst customer service experience(s) with ABC and called Big Guy for Hire. Their customer service was unbelievably great! They were able to come out the next day and move our appliances with such ease! The delivery team updated us several times on their ETA. Their service and pricing is unbeatable! We will definitely be using them again in the future!

I have been using BGFH for 5 years. They have helped me move all sorts of things, including a 1920’s upright player piano that weighs at least 1000 pounds. Just this past weekend, 2 guys helped me move from an apartment to a house and it took 10 hours. Obviously I paid for the time, but the move was difficult and exhausting.
Never once did the guys complain, and just kept trucking through every box, problem solving along the way.
I highly recommend them for all your moving needs!!

I had Big Guy For Hire come in to move an oversize treadmill I'd had delivered from my first floor to my workout space on the second floor of my house. When I called, they had immediate availabilities, whereas I would have needed to wait weeks for my small job with the other movers I had contacted. The day of, they called to ask if I'd like to take advantage of an earlier availability that had opened up, which worked out even better for me. When planning to move a house locally this is such a great way to go. We had everything that we wanted moved by them boxed and or ready to move when they arrived (except for two beds that needed disassembled). They gave guidance on the size of the truck we would need and what supplies to have available for them to use. They were exceptionally courteous and arrived wearing masks. They took great care to load the truck to fully maximize the truck and the time for which we were paying. Highly recommend Big Guy! We contacted multiple companies trying to find help unloading a 16' Pod, and while most were either unavailable or tried to upsell us on services, John was able to get us exactly what we needed and get us on the schedule for the next day.

Great experience! They are very polite, professional, and pay attention to EVERY detail. We had 3 men help carry two oversized cabinets from Restoration Hardware upstairs and they very carefully were able to accomplish this task without damaging or scratching any walls or furniture. Very pleased and will absolutely be using them again.

Instead of taking a customer's feedback into account and improving his business, the owner of Big Guy for Hire is using name-calling and personal attacks to go on the offensive. He cannot let it go that he received a negative review; he keeps updating his replies, even after more than a month. Do not use this business unless you want to be hounded via text and online.
Edit: I woke up to seven texts from Big Guy for Hire one day. They were threats to sue me unless I took down my review. I had to tell the police I was being harassed via text and online, and the police called Big Guy for Hire

We used Big Guy for hire to pack 2 Pods for us and would definitely recommend them! Derek and Daniel showed up right on time and got straight to work playing expert level Tetris and they were able to get everything we needed into our pods! Both men were friendly and took great care of our furniture. Even though we underestimated the time it would take to pack the Pods, Derek and Daniel stayed and made sure they got every last box packed.

I have known John and used his Big Guy for Hire moving service since 2009. I witnessed the great service they provided and the growth of their company in this 10 years. Most recently, I used their company service for my moving. Two young guys did the moving. Very professional and efficient. It was a great moving experience. Highly recommend their service.

Chris and Trey were friendly and courteous gentlemen, they were a little bit late coming from a previous job but that was not a problem for us since they were in contact and anyway who can predict the exact timing of a job like moving? They communicated well with each other and unpacked a very full 8'X8' Pod in just over 2 hours including a bedroom set and other furniture. For the most part everything was treated gently and moved efficiently, they navigated the narrow stairway up to the apartment very well.

This was the best moving company I have ever worked with! We have moved a lot in recent years and this was the best experience we ever had. John was very helpful and courteous. Derek and Chris were excellent pod loaders. They did such a great job of fitting all the pieces together inside the pod. They actually saved us money! It was such a relief to work with true professionals.
