Services
Tanya grew up in Sacramento and earned her dental hygiene degree from West LA College. She chose dental hygiene as a career to make a difference in her patient's oral and overall health. In her free time, Tanya and her husband enjoy discovering great places to eat in Southern California. They are also big travelers and usually travel to 2-3 new countries per year.
My team and I believe that all individuals should have the ability to preserve the health and wellness of their smile for a lifetime of improved function, comfort, and aesthetics. Our philosophy of great dentistry and great service - guaranteed - is carried out in our practice through professionalism, care, and compassion for our patients, combined with an office equipped with the latest technology.
Dr. Lily Yao was born and raised in Northern California in the city of San Francisco. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology with a minor in Communications at the University of California, Davis. In her college years, she co-published healthcare research papers primarily focusing on the method of molecular replication of Giardia lambia, a microscopic parasite.
Dr. Shiva Amanat was born and raised in Southern California. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences from Chapman University and continued on to receive her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Western University of Health Sciences. From a young age, she devoted herself to giving back to her community, which led her on the path of dentistry.
Dr. Joelle Tavitian is a personable, highly enthusiastic Orange County, CA, endodontist, with state of the art training in modern endodontic dentistry. Dr. Joelle Tavitian received her dental degree in 1999 from the University of Southern California. She then pursued two additional years of education after receiving her dental degree.

Never thought I'd find myself thinking so highly and memorably of a visit to the dentist. The experience from start to finish was unlike any other dentist visit I've had and unfortunately I've had a lot coast to coast in both Southern California and New York City. (Also in Tijuana, MX but that's a story for another time.)
Dorothy, my Hygienist with whom I spent most of my visit with, was very friendly and made me feel very comfortable and at ease. She has an okay sense of humor too. She provided me with a tour of the facility which convinced me of it being State of the Art

I've just moved down to Orange County and was looking for a new primary dentist. I have not been to a Dentist one 6 years and had a chipped front tooth right before the holidays (yikes) Thankfully I located OC healthy smiles who scheduled me right away with the friendly receptionists. I am so incredibly grateful for Dr.Yao and her hygienist assistant Diana. Both women had ensured my entire visit was pain free and comfortable the entire time. I haven't been to the dentist in years and Dr Yao and her dental assistant Diana were absolutely amazing! They made me 100% comfortable the whole time. They addressed all of my concerns and questions and were extremely thorough with explaining how everything works. They really eased my fears about going to the dentist and I am not afraid to come back. If you're looking for a gentle, patient, and kind dentist and staff, I recommend coming here.

Been with OC Healthy Smiles for years now and I have never had as regular dental care as now. Their friendly, open and transparent attitude and advice made it easy to trust them. I went from visiting dentists every couple of years with tons of cavities and deep cleanings to visiting every 3 months for routine cleanings.
The cleaning sessions was extra awesome with Dorothy giving me a flossing challenge to keep my teeth in even better shape and require less serious work.

This review is in regards to my teeth whitening appointment.. Perla did an amazing job at explaining everything to me throughout the whole process. I have had whitening sessions at other locations before this and I can say I definitely recommend getting your teeth whitening treatment done at Oc healthy smiles the last couple times I went to other locations I didn't see much of a difference and now I can definitely tell I got the treatment done.

I just had one of THE best experiences. From the very first phone call to the end of my 'crown' placement. They are extremely friendly and very caring. They dont try to rush the work and are very patient and careful to make sure it gets done right and not fast as I have experienced in other dental offices. Dr Yao is by far the best dental Dr I have had work by and Diana has also been on of few dental assistants that I have felt with. I have never felt so comfortable at a dentist office. Thank you for having such a calming and nurturing presence. The staff here makes you feel welcomed and at home. They're very informative, patient, and knowledgeable. If needed, they will discuss options with you and I never felt like any products or services were being pushed on me. They were very honest about the results of my cleaning and their thoughts on some future dental work I was looking at. Thank you for making it feel like a true, genuine human interaction rather than a cold, stark, and distant doctors office.

This place is fantastic! There is a reason they have 5 out of 5 stars. I have never had a cleaning here yet but hope they take my insurance so I can. There office is super clean and has the most up to date equipment. They have a tv for you to watch, blankets, headphones, drinks, so many perks to making going to the dentist just a little easier. For someone who doesn't like going to the dentist, this would be so so helpful!

There is a reason OC healthy smiles has so many 5 star reviews on Yelp! It's because every person working there is genuinely nice and cares about your concerns of going to the dentist. I have put off going to the dentist due to much fear anxiety and a major gag reflex, but I'm getting married in January and I want whiter healthier teeth. After ready reviews I decided this was the place for me as many people stated they care about you and take good care with their patients. Dr. Yao and her assistant are very friendly.
I had an unrelated issue with my jaw, it locked during a filling (my fault) I was super scared and in pain but they were able to fix it and reschedule my appointment. They were super accommodating and understanding, can't imagine what I would have done if this happened when I was alone.

I moved to California just before COVID hit from Hawaii and have been looking for a dentist. A friend of mine told me about her dentist so I thought I would give them a try based off her feedback and they met every expectation.
After being provided a tour from my Hygienist Dorthy I was taken to my exam room and greeted with a card and bag containing a brush, paste, chapstick and floss all wrapped up nicely with some twine. I was handed a amenity menu to make my check up even more personal!
