Southwestern Eye Center
Making the trusted choice to restore your vision starts with getting familiar with your options for treatments and surgeries. 90% of Americans will be affected by cataracts, though they form slowly and signs aren't always obvious. The procedure is simple and covered nearly 80% by Medicare. See if you're ready.

Regular Eye Exams are important for proactively monitoring for ocular diseases and managing the development and treatment of other eye conditions, like glaucoma. All of our doctors are highly skilled, and many have additional advanced fellowship training. Southwestern Eye Center was established in 1982 in Mesa, Arizona, by Dr. Lothaire Bluth.
Services
Southwestern Eye Center was established in 1982 in Mesa, Arizona, by Dr. Lothaire Bluth. For more than 35 years, the practice has grown and continues to offer world-class technology and down-to-earth values. Dr. Bluth pioneered the concept of bringing the doctor to the patient and bringing comprehensive eye care to rural and underserved areas throughout Arizona.
At Southwestern Eye Center, our doctors provide comprehensive optometry and ophthalmology services including subspecialty procedures in vitreoretinal disease, oculoplastics, cornea disease, glaucoma, refractive procedures, low vision aids and ocular prosthetics. Many of these services are available even in our remote locations.
In order to maintain decent vision and to keep your eyes healthy, you must have routine eye exams. For certain age groups, it may be alright to have an exam every two years; however, if you are a senior or have diabetes it is a good idea to be checked every six to twelve months. Be sure to consult your eye care professional regarding the consistency of eye exams that you should maintain.
To the best of your ability, select the options that best describes your vision correction or general eye care needs and our team will reach out to help ensure that you get scheduled. We look forward to scheduling your appointment and providing you exceptional care that is focused on you! At Southwestern Eye Center, we are focused on making sure that we provide the best possible eye care for your unique vision needs.
Those with low vision are often referred to as "partially sighted". Low vision is the loss of sight that is not correctable with prescription eyeglasses, contact lenses, or surgery. Low vision does not include complete blindness, because there is still some sight. Low vision can be treated or offset with the use of vision aids such as magnifying glasses.

I have wet macular degeneration in one eye and Dr. Adelberg restored almost perfect vision with injections of medication in the eye, over a period of 5 months. I am very pleased with my results. I recommend anyone with eye issues use southwestern eye center. I have used their services since the mid to late 90s. Never been disappointed.

I have trusted SW Eye and Dr. Adelberg for years through surgeries and treatments on both eyes. I could not have expected better results or more gentle treatment. I would recommend them for anyone.

I was very specific with the staff at Southwestern Eye from the beginning of this adventure. The issue I had was that I have never worn glasses and I never want to wear them, so I told them that I didn't want the cataract surgery if it would require me to wear glasses. I was told that the Dr. said he could make that happen and left it at that. Surgery has come and gone, and my vision up close is spotty at best. It's been almost 4 weeks and I'm still experiencing a few things that I am not comfortable with. My post-surgery appointment went smoothly, but I still haven't heard anything from anyone

The best experience! Dr Pugh and Antony make a good team. They did more testing than before and made feel confident to know that my eyes are not as bad as I thought. I will recommend them to friends and family. Thank you!

I schedule appointments for as early as I can and in the years that I have had to come here, I have NEVER been seen without sitting around for at least an hour after arriving. Not sure how they open at 8 and by 8:20 they are an hour and 1/2 behind schedule. I also have 1 doctor I am supposed to be seeing, but have been redirected to 5 of the 8 doctors they have staffed. Absolutely the WORST customer service I have ever experienced at a doctors office. Always treated like they are doing you a favor by treating you.

Had something strange happening in my eye yesterday afternoon. Called Southwestern Eye Center and explained. The lady said she would talk to triage team and call me back. Within 10 minutes, she called back and had a 10:30am appt for me for today. Arrived at 10:25am. A technician, Zack, called me back to be seen at about 10:35. He was very professional, listened well, explained what was next, took copious notes. I told him he seemed good at his job. Next they took a picture of my eyes. Then a waited just a little while and was called in by the doctor. Dr. Owens explained that what I had was an ocular

They were great when I went in. I had an appointment at some other place that told me they would take my insurance, but told me the day before that they actually wouldn't be able to. Southwestern Eye Center was able to get me a same-day appointment. The staff were friendly and helpful and Dr. Pugh was very good at easing my mind w/ my eye issue. I would highly recommend!

Brought my son here to see Dr. Roper for a lazy eye issue. Dr. Roper took his time throughout the examination and determined surgery would be necessary to correct the issue. We appreciated his expertise and care during the exam. My son was also able to order a pair of glasses from the optical department. Lana was excellent in ensuring the glasses came quickly and ordering exactly what was needed. I was impressed about all of the precautions this office took to keep everyone safe and everyone did it with the utmost kindness and respect. They have a really great eyeglass selection too! I

Out of curiosity, I read several reviews as I had been tempted to "Yelp" this "chicken coop" as someone accurately described this poor facility staffed with incompetent technicians and "doctors". I spent months trying to have cataract and glaucoma surgery. Like another reviewer, after several consultations and finally scheduling the procedure, I was called the day before the surgery telling me my insurance would not cover the procedure. They had months to sort this out and after, yet another cancellation, I was told that "I" could appeal. Not the clinic

The doctor is the best but the optical side is horrible so my review is on the optical part. Took my frames in there to get new lenses and they said 7-10 business days to complete so I waited that time and there was no call so I called to check on my wife and my glasses and they said it was going to take another 7-10 business days for what ever reason they gave us so we waited another 10 business days and no call so we called to check again and they said the lab said they will be done Thursday this was on a Tuesday so we waited and expected a call on Thursday, well Thursday came and went no call

I am writing this review while I am sitting in the eye center office in Coolidge. First off, the front staff are helpful and friendly. After that, my experience has been completely downhill. I did not see anyone until 20 minutes after my appointment. The lady I saw did what I guess is a preliminary eye exam -- she was extremely rude and robotic. No people skills what so ever. I am still waiting to see the eye doctor (an hour later), who I have already lost confidence in given his choice of "professionals." I am anxious to leave and will definitely find another eye doctor with updated

I had an appointment for today at 740am. Received text confirmation of appointment. Arrived at 730am, usually paperwork needs to be filled out. Door locked, sign on window says open at 8am. Called number in text, explained, put on hold, doesn't have explanation. Lady walks up, keys in hand, explained why I was there, said I have to wait, this is at 733 am. Asked if I could at least come in and sit down. Refused. Said doctor doesn't come in until 8.Then I told her to cancel appointment. I ha

Terrible terrible terrible customer service. I was referred to Southwestern Eye Center by my optometrist to get a second opinion on my eye exam. The eye exam was in March 2017, I provided the office with my insurance information, paid my $60 specialist co pay and went about my day.

Months later I received another bill of $130 from Southwestern Eye Center. When I called the office they said they never received my insurance information. I was baffled by their response and provided them with my insurance information over the phone, and again went about my day.

7 months later I received the same

I have seen at least a dozen ophthalmologists in several states so I am very familiar with how this usually goes. I saw Dr. Pfister. I drove from Peoria so it was a trek for me, then when we got there my paperwork had to be scanned; the wait to have the tech do the vision test was 40 min. We then went to the waiting groom for another 15 min to see Dr. Pfister.

If you have rare, or difficult to manage corneal disease I would recommend you look elsewhere.
His demeanor was off putting, he was condescending and unpleasant. For me the biggest red flag was when Dr. Pfister, who said he did not know

If you care about your eyes, do not go here. Many of the doctors that work here are incompetent or sketchy.* Years ago I dodged a bullet when I avoided surgery at this chicken coup. Staff largely thinks they are better than you, and if you ever say or do anything that doesn't follow scripted patient interactions they will find a way to make your stay very unwelcome. Incidentally, I'm 100% sure Pfister is a sociopath. I'd mention more, but I've noticed the HR mafia is protecting this guy even after he's violated quality of care standards multiple times.
