South Austin Irrigation is a licensed Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester - license number BP0015870. Both the International Plumbing Code and the Uniform Plumbing Code require annual testing of all backflow prevention devices, and South Austin Irrigation offers this valuable service as part of our irrigation packages.

Water from your fertilized lawn shouldn't be flowing back into your home through the kitchen or bathroom taps. That's why residential irrigation systems in Texas must be connected to a suitable backflow prevention assembly (BPA). In Austin, the Austin Water Utility administers a backflow prevention program in combination with state and local codes to ensure that BPAs are installed, maintained, and tested wherever backflow may be a risk.
Currently 76.32% of Texas is drought-free, including Austin and the surrounding areas. Abnormally dry conditions exist in 23.68% of Texas, while only 12.61% of the state is experiencing moderate drought conditions. Residential irrigation is allowed two days a week between midnight and 10 a.m, and/or 7 p.m to midnight.

I've had South Austin Irrigation out on three separate occasions- first for a consult to redesign some of the areas of the yard that weren't being watered properly; a second time to troubleshoot a leak that we could not locate; and a third time for a minor repair.
Each time, they have given us a reasonable timeframe for their visit, they have shown up on time and they have completed the work to our satisfaction. We were particularly happy when they were able to locate the hidden leak that we had been unable to locate.

Awesome service and Matt is just a genuinely great guy. Up front and fair with billing and not going to push you into something unnecessary. We've dealt with other irrigation companies around and had less than desirable results. With others I have been left with the regret of not just doing it myself, but not with Matt. He did all the work himself and is a true professional, so save the time, money and hassle and give him a call.

Dave came out to provide an evaluation since someone (me) ruined the drip line in the front of our house when aerifying. It didn't take him but a few seconds to know it was going to need to be replaced. The other 59 minutes he taught and walked me through everything I didn't know about my irrigation system, which was a lot. I would recommend SAI to anyone who wants to better understand how their system works or has an issue that needs to be addressed.

Highly recommend South Austin Irrigation. Matt did an excellent job replacing our sprinkler system’s control panel. He made sure everything worked properly, and he spent time explaining the settings on the panel. He also quickly replaced a broken line in a flower bed. We hope we don’t have issues with our system in the future, but if we do, we will not hesitate to use them again.

He explained what he was doing and made recommendations for different planting zones. First of all, these are the guys for sprinkler repair in Austin! Matt showed up to the job site early and was prepared with every tool in the box. With sprinkler systems, especially of the aging variety, troubleshooting can be the most challenging and the actual repair rather simple and straightforward. All I can say is the troubleshooting process was like a forensic deep dive into all things sprinkers! Second time I've had Matt out. Each time I get the feeling that he's there to "do whatever, diagnose​ whatever" it takes to solve my issue ---- whether he makes a buck on it or not. This time, he came out to tweak our irrigation issue and spent a lot of time helping us see we had a leak outside of the irrigation system that we need to hop on. Lots of time to help something he didn't make a buck on. Reasonably priced for all that he does!

Matt and his team at South Austin Irrigation have provided exceptional service over the past four years. Matt has provided services that range from repairing a drip hose system, separating zones for enhanced water pressure, replacing fixed heads with rotary heads to obtain more coverage, repairing and relocating heads that have been run over by the lawn mower and edger, and replacing my out dated controller with a high tech Rachio that I can control from my phone. I made an appointment for 9:00am in the West Cypress Hills subdivision. After not hearing from them by 9:10 I decided to go run some errands. I did call them and tell them I was disappointed with them. At 9:15 they called and said they were running late. Had they called before 9:00am I would have waited. The tech called me and we agreed to re-schedule for another day. No biggie but Friday night I received an email from the owner saying he was canceling my next appointment because West Cypress Hills is too far. Matt with South Austin Irrigation has been my go-to irrigation company for many changes we've made to our yard over the last 4 years. We just recently (couple of weeks ago) used South Austin Irrigation. He had to locate some valves that were buried underground, and did a wonderful job!! He came exactly when he said he would. He is very knowledgeable, and had a wealth of tools with which to find our buried water valve. Matt Sorenson is the owner of the company and did our work.
He is a very agreeable person.
If and when we have any other issues with our MYRIAD of sprinkler zones and anything else irrigation related, we would definitely call him again.
