At Health Centered Dentistry we practice what we refer to as "Whole Person Dentistry." An approach to dentistry that promotes health and wellness instead of only treating "dis"ease. While living in Milwaukee with my wife and newborn son, I graduated from Marquette University in 1972. I joined the U.S. Air Force and served as a captain in the dental division of Scott Air Force base near St. Louis, Missouri. After serving in the Air Force our family of four, soon to be five, moved to Pierce County where we still reside.
Both for cosmetic and health safety reasons we at Health Centered Dentistry use only tooth-colored (composite) filling materials. Sometimes due to esthetic concerns, health concerns, or both, patients wish to have their old silver / amalgam (mercury containing) fillings replaced. At other times, due to new decay developing around the edges of previously placed silver / amalgam fillings, we must restore teeth that contain mercury.

(also known as biologic, mercury free, and whole person dentist)The Simple Answer: Holistic dentistry is an alternative approach to dentistry that believes your oral health is absolutely interconnected to your overall health. It focuses on using biocompatible (non-toxic) restorative materials, eliminating infections, and promoting optimal teeth / jaw / head / neck structural relationships.

In 2003 and 2004 Dr. Laughlin wrote a chapter explaining the connection between the cranial mechanism and the jaw (dentistry). Crystal (hygienist) and Dr. Louie were both thorough, professional, efficient, and had a friendly manner. While I greatly appreciate their explanations, suggestions, and recommendations, showing me on an x-ray or teaching me a technique so I can improve the health of my teeth on my own is most helpful. I learn something handy every time I go to HCD, which is just one of the reasons I will not be returning to a dentist in conventional dentistry.

Dr. Laughlin and his team provide the most professional care I have received at a Dentistry. They are incredibly thorough, and they all work so well together. All of the staff is very friendly and have taught me techniques, and given me the skills to better care for my families dental health, in a very natural way. They spend the extra time to go above and beyond.
