The food here is very high quality, however, the price is high as well and the food portions are too small. Low on portions, as compared to other BBQ places, and only can sodas available (no refills). Perfectly cooked slabs of BBQ meats are fine on their own, but what about the wood stoking the fire that gives them their subtly smokey flavor?

Our first time here. It’s very clean on the inside. We came in on a Sunday at 3pm. The staff was super nice and helpful while ordering. I ordered a 2 meat platter. The Brisket was not good. It looked and tasted old and reheated on a flat top grill. The beef sausage was pretty good. I also had collards, which were good but they don’t put any meat in their sides so it’s not like I’m used to. The fried okra was ok but those are usually tough to mess up.
I love trying different BBQ places and glad I tried this one. I’m not sure I will go back as there are many other really good places around

Wholy Disappointed. It says "Texas Style BBQ" on the outside, but don't be fooled. It was far from it on my visit. I grew up in Texas for the first 30 years of my life on good Texas BBQ, I should know when its the good stuff. I ordered the $18 2-meat plate with brisket and beef sausage, and I originally ordered spicy pintos and fried okra for my sides, but was informed they don't have the spicy pintos today even though they were on their hand-written blackboard of available sides, so I opted for blackberry cobbler instead.

This place was such a great surprise for the vegan community! I saw on a local page they were offering vegan “chicken” wings which were more like nuggets and wow they were sooo good, I had to go back and ask to make sure I got the right food it tasted so close to chicken! The sweet potato crunch was so good as were the fried green beans! I can’t wait to come back here again!!

I ordered the beef brisket with baked beans. I got my order within 5 minutes. The green apple lemonade was amazing. The service when I first walked in was great. I was greeted immediately. The peach cobbler was so good I could have slapped my mama. There is never a complaint when I come to Wholy Smoke.

I was a little disappointed with the food! The prices seemed very steep for the quality and quantity of the food that is given. I am a big fan of sweet potatoes however, the sweet potatoes could have been cooked 20 minutes longer because they were not that soft. The potato that you see in the picture. The sour cream taste cheap. For the price of the fish plate you only get one piece of fish which was very surprising to me! I do not mind supporting my black owned business unfortunately, I will not be returning customer of this establishment. I wish them nothing but the best.

Wholy heck this was a fantastic meal. We walk in and warmly welcomed. Great vibes before we even ordered. Pulled pork was delicious and juicy. Brisket was some of the best my husband has had. The sides were delicious (had the fried green beans and corn fritters). Vegetarian and vegan options. Tried a bite of my friend’s Jack fruit BBQ and it was tasty. Tons of seafood options too. Will be making the trip to Mauldin for seconds and thirds…….
