It all started in 1999, when our founder, Shane Coker, at 28 years old, opened an unassuming little mattress store in Austin Texas.
He had sort of grew up in the industry, and after carrying all the big "S" brands (Sealy, Simmons, Serta, Spring Air) & new fad memory foam brands (Temperpedic, etc), and after experiencing all the different technologies & core components that were on the market, he came to realize firsthand what worked & what didn't, what was real and what was fad, in sleep.

The world is changing, and people are becoming more aware of healthy options in every aspect of their lives. Consumers want to know that what they eat, wear, and buy is healthy for them and their family. We believe it is the same with mattresses. We provide the health-conscious option to where you sleep.
There is only one Houston mattress store that carries truly organic and natural mattresses, and it's us!. Our competitors claim that they offer "natural" mattresses, but that is simply not true. We are the only mattress store in the Houston area that has nothing to hide when we say "green." These other stores are doing what is called "greenwashing".
Looking at the labels of different mattresses, even a smart consumer will be confused as to why mattresses must be flame retardant but don't have to be free of toxic carcinogens. We're confused by that, too. The main reason is politics.

Off-gassing is when toxic chemicals evaporate from your mattress into the air. As traditional mattresses with polyurethane foam and chemical flame retardants age, they off-gas these carcinogenic chemicals into the air you and your family breathe. These mattresses contain fire retardant formaldehyde, chemicals, and other toxic glues, stains, and coatings made from petroleum oil based polyurethane foam.

We bought a mattress back in December and we were told it would arrive sometime in January, we experienced several delays in shipping and when we received it, they sent us the wrong mattress... Took several weeks to get resolved but the manager ended up exchanging it for a different mattress from a different manufacturer.

My husband and I just bought the king Mango mattress and we love it! We both agree that Patrick's customer service was stellar. We asked many questions and Patrick was patient and answered everything with the intention to inform us as much as possible. There was a hiccup when we went to pick up the mattress but Patrick offered solutions on the spot and he got everything straightened out for us that same day. We are incredibly happy with our new bed & our experience with Houston Natural Mattress.

My wife and I were blown away by how comfortable and high quality a non-toxic mattress can be these days. The customer service at Houston Natural Mattress was exceptional. We weren’t rushed at all, and had a one on one consultation to narrow down and select just the right mattress for us. They had non-plastic disposable pillow covers we could use when trying the different products, as well as clean sheets if we desired. They are taking cleanliness and safety very seriously right now, which is obviously appreciated! We ended up picking out a few Posh + Lavish mattresses that I swear are more comfortable
