Baxter's Vineyard
Kelly & Brenda Logan purchased the winery from the family corporation, Gem City Vineland Company in 1984 and re-opened the winery as Baxter's Vineyards in 1989 after going through the daunting task of bonding and licensing during the age of no electronic communication. Kelly is the 5th generation of Baxter's to grow fruit in the historic town of Nauvoo, Illinois.

Brenda soon became one of very few female wine makers in the state of Illinois and also took on the tasks of the general manager of the property. Today, Brenda remains as the general manager, while Kelly continues to work off site and maintain all of our vineyards and orchards. In addition to Brenda and Kelly, their daughter, Kim, has returned to Nauvoo and assists Brenda in the general management of the property.

Nice place with some homemade jams and home canned products. Other items offered for sale. Now for the wines, not a big selection but what the did have was excellent 👌. I am already regretting not getting more( it was a 2 hour drive)

The cranberry wine is awesome!! Wish it was sold in north Ia! My sister sometimes brings up a bottle if it isn't sold out in stores.

The wine really wasn't our taste, place is cute, but small. It looks like it could be really great. There is a big kitchen where they could offer baking classes. There is a restaurant pub next door that is open until 9pm. We didn't try it.

Nice little place. The oldest winery in Illinois, nice to see the old vineyards around the corner. Gift shop had a lot of items for the kitchen and a Dutch blue cheese similar to the one that used to be made in Nauvoo years ago.

Sunday afternoon on the patio. Can't beat it.
The Icarian red is great. River Bend red even better.
The spot to be after the parade and car show.
Trust me. Oldest winery in Illinois. Fifth generation. They have it figured out!

Nothing but nice. My wife decided on the $6 try them all sampler and ended up buying 4 varieties from the 10 they offer. The lady that worked the counter was at times swamped by customers but she was very patient and answered everyone’s questions all while still serving wine samples and tending the register. There is a lot of history in Nauvoo. This place was the start of our learning experience

Different wines than you can get elsewhere. The owner was very nice and helpful. We enjoyed our visit and bought a couple of bottles of wine.

The Winery wasn't open, Google hours need to be updated. Checked out the Wine Barrel. Instantly were judged. The bartender was extremely rude to us as we were looking for the Baxter Wine to purchase a glass. Never been treated so poorly. Probably great spot for a local. Would not recommend this place to anyone traveling through.

One of my favorite places in West/Central Illinois. The wine is delicious and reasonably priced, and all of the staff is friendly and helpful. Where ever you are, Baxter's is worth the drive - definitely check them out!

Cute little winery, in the fifth generation of family ownership. I love a mom and pop business! The wines were good, I like sweet wines so I tried a few of those. The peach was fabulously peachy!

They have a cute area set up to show some of there equipment with simple comments explaining the purpose of each. It was nice to walk through the areas at a leisurely place.

Stop in and support this awesome family business!

Best in the area for tasting and doing the winery adventure thing! The family has been in the business for five generations and knows what's up. Many award winning varieties to sample, mostly on the sweeter side and unique to my California palette. The Riverbend Red was my favorite. The shop is reasonably priced and has some fun wine accessories to look at while you do your tasting. I picked up a neon green corkscrew (waitstaff quality) for $4 because a recent purchase from a major store for 3x as much really let me down.

Tour the winemaking area and enjoy a wine slush or snack (frozen pizzas
