My wife and I along with little dog Eddie spent winter, January and February 2020 in the Windymile cabin and had a wonderful time. We are from Minnesota but have spent the last 7 winters in the tropics of the Shenandoah Valley. The cabin is in a spectacular setting, accessible to Lexington and Staunton, restaurants and breweries along with amazing outdoor resources. We loved waking to the cattle and view of the mountains. Hosts, Audrey and Dave are laid back, helpful and we enjoyed getting to know them. We are retired and frequent travelers. We highly recommend Windymile!

Peace. Tranquility. Solitude. Dog-friendly. I found all that and more at Windymile Cabin. If you are looking for a break from the hustle and bustle of city life, this is the place for you. Windymile is an easy drive from Washington, DC. I came for a solo retreat with my two city dogs. They loved being able to sniff and run through a couple of fenced acres and bark at the cows. The cabin is situated on a quarter acre fenced lot with another 2 fenced acres surrounding it. Beyond that is a cow pasture, the host's place and amazing mountain views. You'll feel like you are away from everything (and

If you are looking for a peaceful, quiet getaway, this place is for you. I left DC for a short spring break with my two big city dogs. Windymile was perfect for us. Lots of solitude, distant from neighbors, with a couple of fenced acres for the dogs to run around and appreciate all the new smells, plus cows to bark at. Easy driving to the nearby mountains and nature reserves for hiking, fishing and exploring. The cabin was clean and well stocked with everything I needed. It doesn't have wifi or cable but the hosts provided plenty of dvd movies to watch. Perfect for me as my plan was to disconnect

We have stayed at Windymile twice and can't wait to go back. People often joke that parents don't get vacations on family trips, they just keep doing the same cycle of cooking and cleaning just in a different place. At Windymile, though, all of our parents duties are made infinitely better by the lovely setting, simplicity and ease of staying at the cabin, and the spectacular views. Our two little kids and two dogs loved exploring the property and watching the neighboring cows while my husband and I enjoyed the stunning sunsets, stargazing, and cozy outdoor fireplace. We loved how quiet it was

We had a great stay at Windymile. It is such a beautiful setting and our dog loved romping around the yard. We really enjoyed the sunsets, sitting by the fire, and watching our dog go crazy seeing cows for the first time. The cabin itself was clean and comfortable and the owner, Dave, was very helpful in telling us about the area. Thank you for a great stay!

What a wonderful Cabin. Our family stumbled upon Windymile on Foursquare for a last minute Cabin rental near Lexington VA, and we couldn't have been happier to have found it! Dave was very attentive and helpful, and the cabin itself was a great place to stay. We enjoyed the views, the outdoor fireplace, and the cows. Don't miss Goshen Pass with its nearby swimming and fishing! We hope to return to Windymile Cabin!

We chose this rental because it was centrally located to the things we wanted to do -- river tubing and the Jefferson Pools in Warm Springs. But we were so pleasantly surprised at how nice the cabin was and how convenient ---- it feels totally remote but is only a few minutes away from shopping and Downtown Lexington. The cabin was immaculate and the accommodations wonderful. So very comfortable. My husband was disappointed at first by the size of the TV but it really wasn't an issue. The cabin is such a great value. And the owners were so nice to us and easy to deal with. If we travel that way

We stayed in the Adair house. It was a great size for 4 people, and it was nice to have the optional 3rd bedroom if we had extra guests come. Dave is really easy to work with. The house is very clean and pretty, the deck is awesome, and the fire pit outside is great! Plenty of chairs is a plus too! The kitchen has everything you need. It would be nice to have the second bathroom open knowing that there is one, but you have to pay more for it. At least it keeps the cost down if you don't need it. The location is pretty nice, very secluded place, not too far from Lexington. There are a few local

The Dixon cabin was wonderful for peace and quiet, but close enough to venture out for the day. We had such a relaxing time just sitting outside watching the dogs play, reading and just enjoying each other's company. The cabin was clean and had the basics for you in the kitchen. The outside of the cabin has a gorgeous view of mountains and farmland. Enjoy it all by the fire! When we did adventure outside of the cabin, we checked out some horse shows at the Virginia Horse Center just down the road. We also checked out the downtown area of Lexington, Goshen Pass for hiking and views and the local

I searched all over the area for a place that was quiet, had great views, and could accommodate the whole family for a reasonable price. We certainly found that with Windymile. The owners were accommodating at every step of the way. The cabin was great and really had everything we needed to spend time with family. While Lexington certainly has great things to see we spent a great deal of time at the kitchen table laughing and playing games. The views in the morning were wonderful with a cup of coffee. It was isolated enough to give privacy and a quiet atmosphere, but still close enough to Lexington

We had a great time at Windymile! Our dog LOVED the huge fenced yard. She ran for hours and hours! The cabin has all you need. The views are spectacular and the owners are super nice. The only suggestion I would have would be for slightly more comfortable mattresses. Otherwise, it was a great weekend trip!

Peaceful setting... fantastic views... very dog friendly!
We stayed at This Lexington Virginia Cabin on two separate nights and were not disappointed. The cottage was clean and had everything we needed and the 2.5 acre fenced pasture was a blast for our 4 dogs to run around in and explore. The views are just amazing and there is no way you can't just relax in the peaceful setting. Definitely going back to explore more of the beautiful Goshen Pass area and eclectic city of Lexington... plus, the dogs are looking forward to barking at the cows again.
