Athletics is a vital and integral part of Garces Memorial High School. With one of the most successful athletic programs in the Central Section CIF history, the Garces Rams are ranked fourth all-time with 128 section team championships. We also have dozens of individual titles in swimming, diving, tennis, golf, track and cross-country.

Our Christian focus offers an environment where students can develop spiritually, academically, and socially, enabling them to recognize their potential as people of God.
Garces Memorial High School traces its origins back to the earliest days of Catholic education in Kern County. In 1910, the Sisters of Mercy founded St. Francis Elementary School in the basement of St. Francis Church, located on Truxtun Avenue. In 1926, a new two-story school building was built next to the convent.
At Garces you can explore a rich world of academic and extracurricular possibilities while making real connections with a diverse student body. Our staff and faculty are committed to the task of educating young people to live full, responsible, and meaningful lives strengthened through the curricula and experiences unique to a Catholic school.
Garces Memorial High School offers a rigorous college preparatory curriculum that prepares students to succeed in a higher academic setting through a core curriculum with classes that meet California State Standards and UC and CSU approval. The school focuses on maximizing learning for all students by offering various curricular programs.
Additionally, we encourage all athletes, coaches, and fans to "PICKUP" our athletic core values. We're proud to have Garces Memorial Student-Athletes on our teams-and so are some of the best college athletic programs in the country. Garces was amazing when the pandemic hit. Their students did not miss a beat. They closed on Friday and we're in full class mode vis Zoom on Monday. They were able to open earlier and have been very responsive to the health and welfare of their students. We have been very happy with the education that my boys have received at Garces Memorial. I would recommend this school for everyone. It's not perfect, but MUCH better than the experiences we had in the Kern High School District.

Very good education but VERY POOR ADMINISTRATION - They are more worried about thier image than they are about doing right by the students. This unfortunately has been proven time and time again. Supposed to be a Christian school but does not follow Christs teachings. Before putting your kids at this school I'd check out any number of other quality Christian schools in the area.
