Scarlett Knob Campground is a privately owned campground located on a scenic hilltop adjoining the 20,000 acre Ohiopyle State Park, and overlooking the Youghiogheny River Valley in southwestern Pennsylvania. A fishing lake (no license required) and recreation field are available for use by campers. Services
WE DO permit a specific site to be reserved. If you have a FAVORITE SITE and if it's the appropriate size and available when you make your reservation, we WILL reserve that site for you. WE DO attempt to choose the BEST SITE available to meet your needs when you make a reservation. Please note, the rule of thumbs is, if your tent space equals the number of people on your site, there is ample space for your tents.
SCARLETT KNOB has a Group TENT Camping Area. In this area, there are different size sites to accommodate different size groups. Quiet Hours are from Midnight until 9AM in the group area. Group sizes are 2 to 4 people, 5 to 8 people, 9 to 16 people, 17 to 35 people, and 36 to 60 people. The sites are sized by the number of people - not the number of tents.
WE DON'T supply firewood. We SELL firewood. Currently there is a "Do Not Move Firewood Order" in Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania says do not move firewood from out-of-state or even from one Pennsylvania County to another. This is due to Pennsylvania attempting to prevent the spread of the Emerald Ash Bore and, more recently, the Spotted Lantern Moth.
A security deposit of $5.00 per person per stay is due, IN CASH, from the group leader upon arrival. This deposit is refundable, barring problems, to the group leader after the site is cleaned up, vacated, and inspected. Refund Policy - We do NOT REQUIRE reservations. Your payment guarantees camping for a specific number of people on a specific site.
SCARLETT KNOB does not REQUIRE reservations. However, camping sites are only guaranteed with a paid reservation. We STRONGLY SUGGEST RESERVATIONS for weekends and during special events in the area due to limited space. Any reservation made for 2 nights or more, requires everyone who will be camping on that site during the nights book, pays for the stay of the group.

We’ve been going to this campground for over 5 years now, the owners are nice, the campgrounds are beautiful & quiet. Amenities (coin shower, some flush toilets in the main office, and porta potties) are always clean! The sites are very spaced out and the tree cover is dense, unlike other campgrounds, so you have a feeling of privacy! Truly a great campground for the price, my friends and I have always had a great time here.
***Update: this same weekend I posted this review, Oct 16th, my fiancé and I got engaged! Scarlett Knob was the first place he told me he loved me when we were 18! He proposed

This was a very cool, very basic campground located only a few miles from Ohiopyle. The day we went was absolutely beautiful outside and very hot. Ohiopyle was completely packed, yet scarlett knob had plenty of space. They have a basic outhouse bathroom and shower, and also a newer, being renovated , cleaner bathroom near the entrance. It was very quiet and super dark at night. Spaces are big enough for your car and your tent, alongside the fire pit. Being out there is so much fun. Sure, hotels are nice, but being and sleeping outside is so much more fun. It helps you remember there is something

Simply the best primitive site in the Ohiopyle area. Primitive sites have a rock lined fire pit, picnic table and are very clean. Scarlett’s knob truly honors “leave no trace behind” as when we arrived you couldn’t even tell others camped there previous to us. Less than five min drive to Ohiopyle, the bike trail, cucumber falls, fallingwater, and the natural water slide, which make this location an excellent choice for anyone staying in the area. I would highly recommend Scarlett’s Knob to anyone looking to spend a week/weekend in Ohiopyle.

This. Place. Is. Fantastic. It really puts me some type of way to see negative on places like this....about things you should be prepared for when looking to camp. Like not tearing apart the woods to accommodate yourself. Or making sure you refer to the map and pay attention to where all bathrooms are....or that you really dont usually get a refund ANYWHERE when you cancel at 10pm or 12 am or w/e. The negative I see in the reviews is a level of entitlement I would expect out of a 5 star hotel. Not a campsite. With that being said...

It wasnt a horrible horrible experience I would say, I did love the "you're in the woods" feeling. And that's what I look for in a campground. Not too spaced out from another but luckily we didnt have loud neighbors. The campsite itself was fine, however having a long day hiking and swimming all we wanted to do was take a nice shower, I really wished the nice lady would have told us about the "coined operated" shower! Now we got there put the tent up and it was storming and pouring outside. We waited until it had stopped, briefly but We couldn't drive down to the "bath house" because we would have

There are different kinds of campgrounds and different kinds of camping. Sometimes I want a power outlet on my tree, a water spigot next to my own personal lighted pavilion and a stream full of trout at the end of the lane. Well, this ain't that place. What it is is a nice quiet rustic no frills camping site. Our site had a couple picnic tables, a fire pit, a level clearing that had been mowed, roomy parking and peace and quiet. It was simple and the simplicity is what made it great. A plastic porta john was 30 yards away shared by adjacent sites. It was easy to find, on top of a mountain so we

A lovely family-owned campground with heavily-wooded lots. We brought our 1979 VW Bus and parked it near the fire ring. The woman at the front desk was always attentive and helpful. Bathrooms were clean. A nearby campground wouldn’t accept our reservation because our dog (a mutt) looks too much like a pit bull. Thankfully, we found Scarlett Knob—a windfall for us. It is minutes from Ohiopyle, Fallingwater, and lots of hiking. Great location.

It's an okay campground. The bathrooms and showers are atrocious, and I wouldn't go in a vehicle that doesn't have four wheel drive because you won't be able to get up the hills if it's muddy. But it is in a beautiful area and the staff were very kind. I would've rather pooped in the woods than used their latrines, and the showers required you to use a quarter, (which would be fine) but they don't work. I followed the directions to a T and it just ate quarters. The sites were very cute and ours had a cool fire ring made out of stone. But the sites were packed very closely together and I felt like
