Operated by Paul Markosian and Lorena Stearns, Flexit Cafe and Bakery is a coffee shop, juice bar, breakfast spot, caterer, lunch spot, bakery, and gathering place at the crossroads of Downeast Maine.Ellsworth Maine is not only the county seat and the 'crossroads of Downeast Maine' but a thriving community with a lot to offer individuals, families, and businesses.
Services
Great coffee is produced by someone who has sourced coffee from farmers using sustainable methods and purchased the coffee beans at a fair price. When we visited Coffee By Design in Portland, we knew we had found our roaster. Coffee By Design (CBD) has been in operation for twenty one years (they were among the first coffee roasters in Maine!).
We understand that people are looking for healthy options in their food and beverage choices. As smoothies and juices become more popular around the country, we are proud to offer them as a healthy, fresh option to our customers. We have three main kinds of juices: Green, 'Root Cause' (root vegetables), and Sunrise Trail, named after a historic multiuse trail that passes directly through Ellsworth.
We knew our success would depend on our staff. No matter how nice the place looked or what we put on the menu, friendly staff and strong customer service would set us apart. We don't have uniforms. We don't have rigid scripts on how we talk to people. We want our staff to be able to express their individuality and feel comfortable doing so.
Flexit Cafe and Bakery is in the historic Maine Grind Building on Main Street in Ellsworth. Originally built by the Masons in the 1930s, it served as their headquarters for some time. Members played pool, smoked cigarettes, and held meetings and events. In the dining area, you can even see where the holders for the pool cues are!
We are proud to be an active member of the Ellsworth Downtown Association and generally try to be ambassadors to downtown to anyone thinking of opening a business and reolocating to downtown Ellsworth. We take our role of encouraging and welcoming people seriously. We started out with one breakfast burrito and we came up with another so we couldn't keep calling them both the same name.

A frequent breakfast stop for us—delicious breakfast sandwiches, quiches, and pastries. The croissants are to die for (they run out quick!) and their talented baristas make a variety of yummy coffee and espresso drinks ☕️ The owner is awesome—he works right alongside his employees, frequently makes rounds to all the tables, and makes sure everyone is taken care of and enjoying their food.
If you like a quirky and chill atmosphere, delicious local food, and freshly baked pastries, I definitely recommend this place.

Friendly staff, open through late November, nice atmosphere. I got a salad and the avocado toast with an egg added and the portion/quality could have been better for the price, though I was satisfied with the experience. Would recommend.

We had to wear a mask 🙄, even vaccinated. Also, I didn't see the roast beef sandwich special until I started to leave... so look around 😄.
Food was good. We had sandwiches. Staff was friendly.

AMAZING! You need to visit this spectacular establishment! Stop scrolling through breakfast or lunch options and just come here now. We placed a phone order for a breakfast burrito and iced coffee to start. The girl who took our order was so nice and helpful when we ordered. Once we got here we ordered hot apple cider, a blueberry muffin and a blt. Everything was fantastic!! The environment inside is comfortable and welcoming. Whoever runs this place should be insanely proud of themselves and their team. Everything they offer looks delicious and you can even see someone making baked goods in one

We went on a Sunday and though their menu online had breakfast items, they were not serving them. Everything on Sundays is take away only. So it's like muffins and stuff, but their normal menu. I'm sure their breakfast is great, but at had a hangry girlfriend and needed to get food and there was a long line. Because of the lack of options and the long line, I know we left and the group behind us left (they told us the line was too long and they were going the next town over, since all other breakfast places were slammed with hour waits), we ended up at Dunkin and still had to wait for 15 minutes

Unexpectedly, we chose blueberry pie and hard boiled eggs for breakfast. The eggs were fresh and the pie was delicious. A yummy splurge for breakfast.

Pie would have been even better warm. On Sundays, breakfast sandwiches are not made to order, so this turned out to be the perfect breakfast for us.

GREAT! This summer my family stayed in Ellsworth and we tried Flexit on the first day, and then everyday after that. The atmosphere and the food are wonderful. They have the best blueberry muffin I've ever had.

Found this Cafe on our way to Bar Harbor. Looks like locals like this place. We ordered Tarragon Chicken Salad, Tofu Bahn Mi and Cold Brew. The food was great and the amount of chicken in the wrap was a lot. I wish they put more Tofu in the Bahn Mi though. Maybe they can slice it differently to fit in the baguette well. We love strong, dark roast coffee but the cold brew was too strong for us. It took us awhile to finish it. Nice cafe in the area though.

Stopped by to grab lunch for a picnic in Acadia National Park. I ordered avocado toast with smoked salmon. When we arrived at our picnic spot I was so disappointed! The bread was not toasted, it had a very small amount of mashed avocado but an ok amount of smoked salmon. Quite frankly the most tasteless and unimaginative avocado "toast" I've ever had.

The main street may seem really busy but there is good parking out back. The place has very good coffee and food and comfy atmosphere. They were busy, and the person about to take our order warned of the wait, for which I'm very grateful, as we didn't have time to wait, but were able to find off-the-shelf items that were fine. The latte was quick enough. We were able to eat outside. They have a few table out front.

I don't know how to do this without posting a review - but this place is temporarily closed! We were so excited to get this on the way to the airport after looking at the menu but there's a sign on the door and all lights are out. Definitely call ahead to check before you go!

Picked up a quick breakfast to go on our way out of town and so glad we did. The smoothies were made with real fruit and the blueberry and raspberries were oh so moist and delicious. Wish we'd found this sooner so we could've had lunch and dessert as it all sounded so good and fresh!

Super inviting and cozy little spot. My partner had some remote work to do while we were on vacation so we came here and got breakfast and he did work while I read for a few hours. We came early on a rainy day and it wasn't too crowded at all. Cute local art and also yummy pastries and delicious comfort food- breakfast burrito and an egg sandwich. The staff were super sweet and friendly, really loved being able to stop in here!!

This place was delicious!! They were out of smoked salmon when we got there, but we saw them making more while we were eating. Pretty cool!
My husband loved the cold brew coffee.
I had the Bobbi Lane breakfast burrito, and it was SO GOOD. My husband ended up getting a Cuban sandwich, and he said it was good.
As we were leaving, we got a brownie and a Blondie to go, and both were very tasty!

Cute little Cafe! We stopped by for some coffee. I had a hot coffee and partner had iced coffee, both solid. Great service, we saw plenty of street parking.

I saw many people get breakfast sandwiches or burritos. They also serve lunch! In the restaurant, they also sold local artists artwork which was pretty awesome.
