John Wheatly, owner and operator of L&W Bedding, taught himself how to build mattresses in the late 70s and the early 80s. In 1988, at just 17-years-old, he decided to go out on his own when he purchased a sewing machine and made customized mattresses for hospitals and nursing homes. After working out of his garage, he opened his first store in Moline, Illinois.
At L&W Bedding, we want you to be comfortable with your customized mattress decision. The moment you step into one of our two showrooms, you notice how vastly different we are from any big box store. Our experienced staff will educate you on what makes our mattresses different, but you'll truly feel the difference from the moment you first sleep on one.
L&W Bedding is not your typical mattress store because we're not selling the typical one-size-fit-all mattresses. We sell handcrafted, custom built mattresses and box springs, using the latest styles and comfort trends in the bedding industry.
Our on-site factory has an impressive selection of our own brand of mattresses that feature posturized, durable innersprings, latex, natural cotton batting, heaviest weights of foam, and are available in the traditional two-sided and flippable styles.We offer a large variety of options including flippable mattresses in queen, full, and children's sizes, double-sided king, and our most popular style the "Chiro approved" mattress.

At L&W Bedding, we believe customer service doesn't stop when you choose a bed. We make payment easy, accepting checks, Visa and MasterCard. We also take measurements to make sure everything's just right. Then we deliver, set up and even take away your old bed if needed. For a mattress that's built to order, the average turnaround is three to five business days.

Recently, I decided to make a big move from Southern California to Bettendorf Iowa. Why? For a man I love that I’m re-starting my life with. Being that we’re expecting, traveling to see my new home prior was impossible, as covid and pregnancy complications caused a whole new level of stress. So, once we made the move and drove out here, I got to thinking.. what’s his bed like? Who’s been in it before me? Is it too soft? Is it cheap? I’ve never been in it. He’s always come to visit me. I picked up my mattress set today at L&W bedding in Moline. According to their website, the set I ordered was listed at$1599. They charged me $1699. When i pointed out the difference, I was told they hadn't gotten around to changing the website yet!!
Isn't that false advertising???? I was VERY tempted to walk away !!!Dont you think you should change the website BEFORE charging me the higher price???? NOT HAPPY!!!

L&W makes the very best mattress that has ever been made! It is a family owned business and the quality is superb! I bought my first mattress from L&W bedding in the early 90’s. BEST MATTRESS EVER!!!! I am no longer in Iowa but am going to order my new Mattress from L&W Bedding. They do not cut corners and the mattresses provide the best support of any mattress I have ever owned. I am so happy L&W is still making their mattresses and will be able to ship a mattress to me even though I am out of state.
