Alimony is determined after the court's assessment of the asking party's need for alimony and the ability of the other party to pay. Without a need for alimony, none will be awarded. Where one party needs alimony and the other party lacks the ability to pay alimony, it will not be awarded. In any divorce proceeding, a party may request temporary support to help meet his or her need while the divorce proceeding is pending.
Florida is an "equitable distribution" state, so all marital assets are to be divided "fairly" between spouses during the divorce. Spouses may agree on a property split before the dissolution proceedings, called a marital settlement agreement or a stipulated settlement, to save time and money. If a settlement agreement cannot be reached through negotiation, the court divides the marital assets.
Child Support is a function of several factors. Not the least of which is the number of overnights your child spends in each household. The idea is that each parent should be appropriately credited for those overnights because those are times when it is assumed that parent is feeding and providing for the minor children.
In Florida, we no longer use the terms "visitation" or "primary residential parent". The language of our laws has changed to encourage sharing our children. Shared Parental Responsibility is the norm. That is when both parents continue to be involved in major decisions affecting minor children. Sole Parental Responsibility is reserved for serious cases involving physical abuse, substance abuse, abandonment or severe neglect of minor children.

Looking for an attorney can feel like a vulnerable and helpless situation especially searching online. I am so glad we happened upon Attorney Bylund. I've never met a more knowledgeable, compassionate and thorough attorney as I have with her. I came to do this review because I hope it will help someone like me when I was searching for an attorney for a family member. I want you to know that she would be a great choice if you're facing an emotionally sensitive situation like divorce. Our anxiety went from 100 to almost 0 after hearing her level of competence. If you're willing to shed the emotion
