We decided to form Sonnet Psychological to develop a local resource for specialized care. There are specific protocols in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) that controlled research trials have been shown are particularly effective in treating anxiety, depression, and some eating disorders.
These approaches have been tested extensively offer a combination of effectiveness and low relapse risk that appears to be superior to other forms of psychotherapy or to medication. We specialize in these treatments. Additionally, Dr. Shah has extensive expertise in assessment and treatment of autism-spectrum diagnoses.

It depends on the requirements of your particular insurance policy. Generally, we suggest people contact their insurers to see if a referral is required and to learn about their benefits. We accept many forms of major insurance. If we are not a provider listed on your insurance plan and you would still like to meet with us you can ask your insurance provider if you have "Out of Network" benefits.

Specific cognitive behavioral treatments have a combination of the highest efficacy rates, lowest relapse rates, and fewest side effects for treatment of most anxiety diagnoses. Anxiety may also be caused by medical conditions (for example, hypothyroid symptoms can sometimes appear in the form of panic attacks) or by medications or substance use.
Panic disorder is a diagnosis that is often made when people have recurrent, unexpected panic attacks.
In order for symptoms to fit with a diagnosis of Panic Disorder, the person must not only have panic attacks but the attacks must be followed by at least a month of persistent concerns about having another panic attack, worry about if there will be some consequences to the panic attacks, or a significant change in behavior due to the panic attacks.
