The mission of Fredericksburg Cooperative preschool is to provide a developmentally appropriate, play-based preschool for 3- and 4-year olds focusing on the whole child. Using a center-based, individual choice model and a thematic curriculum, we support hands-on learning, exploration and the natural curiosity of preschoolers.
Our program focuses on the social, emotional, intellectual and physical growth of children while helping to build positive character traits and strong interpersonal communication skills among our students. Through teaching empathy and encouraging kindness, we celebrate differences and form a caring community of compassionate young learners.

Services
Fredericksburg Preschool, Inc. is a state licensed and insured preschool. The classroom allows room for center-based activities and play. There are books, puzzles, toys and games that are rotated to align with the monthly themes. Students are encouraged to choose their own centers whether it be at the sensory table, felt board, book corner, kitchen, dress ups, blocks, science area or art easel.
FPI raises funds throughout the school year in order to keep tuition fees low and pay for teachers and equipment. Each family has the option of participating in various fundraisers throughout the year. Recent fundraisers include family photographs with a local photographer, flower bulb sales, and local business coupon books.
Ours is a unique school with wonderful opportunities for our member families. It is a cooperative, non-profit, state-licensed preschool program with no religious affiliation. Our school is parent-run with an operating board of directors and a voting membership. The educational program is under the guidance of our paid teachers.
A cooperative preschool requires the involvement of the parents to keep the school running. Parents attend monthly meetings, participate in committees and serve (if elected) on the Board of Directors. This enables the students to bridge their home life with their school life. Parents can also use their special skills to enhance the school's curriculum by speaking to the class about their profession, heritage or special talent like music or art.
Below you will find useful documents, apps, websites and even power points that you can use to help your preschooler practice their letters, numbers and fine motor skills. More resources will be available for different seasons and months, so make sure to check back for new and exciting learning opportunities!

As a military family, with the constant moving it can be challenging to provide our children with a stable environment for their development. At FPI my daughter has flourished in her social development and significantly improved her speech. I have also noticed a positive change in her behavior. Moreover, the teachers at FPI are patient and skilled. They genuinely care about the children’s wellbeing and safety. The program is incomparable and affordable! I have also been offered the opportunity to meet some great moms with similar interests. The benefits are endless! This is easily one of the

I can't say enough good things about FPI! We are on our 2nd child attending. We love the community and life long friends we have made. My kiddos are excited to go to school and that has continued on into elementary school. They do so many cool things with the kids and they really do learn so much through play. As a complete mama bear I love the hands on ability it gives me to be a part of my children's school life being a cooperative. The teachers are true blessings and love the kids just as we do.

This community centered school has stellar teachers, strong parent involvement (it’s a requirement 😉), and amazing student-centered curriculum that promotes emotional and intellectual growth and development.
I’m proud to be a part of this unique learning community. I have had two very different children attend and thrive.

We love FPI! We enrolled our daughter after several friends recommended the program. Our kiddo can be bashful and barely made the age cut off at the end of September so we ware worried about sending her to school. Turns out all that worry was for nothing because she loves going to school and has learned soo much in the play based environment. It has been amazing to be able to help out in the classroom and see what the kids are doing and learning. It was such a good experience we signed up for the 4's class and our daughter has loved every minute of it!

Having the opportunity to be in your child's class is priceless. They are only little for a short time and I have treasured every moment of the time I shared with them in the classroom. On the day I registered our first child who went through FPI, I arrived early to make sure we were able to register him and I'm so happy I did! Our experience with FPI has been incredible. The teachers are all so kind and loving and the kids have so much fun with play-based learning. The kids meet the kindergarten SOLs without knowing it! I highly recommend this cooperative preschool!!

We LOVE FPI. It is a hidden gem of preschools. We just put our 4 year old through the school and we are about to put our 3 year old through the 3 and 4 year old program. The curriculum is play based which is how kids learn best! Also, it's a co-op so parents are very involved with the school. The teachers are excellent as well! Can't wait for another fun year with FPI!
