Our Harrisburg store opened in 1992 with a simple concept. Offer more brands than anyone else in the area and guarantee the lowest price. It was a popular concept. Discount Vacuum & Sewing Center's Bob Vasile grew up in his family's vacuum and sewing store in Lancaster. His Dad was a District Manager for the Hoover Company.
From Route 83 North: Take the Union Deposit Road exit. At the top of the exit ramp is a traffic light. Turn left at that light onto Union Deposit Road. Go to the third traffic light (there's a Wendy's and Fulton Bank at the light) and turn left into Union Square Shopping Center (with Weis Market, Gabriel Bros., Starbucks).
Before buying online or at a store, check out our prices. If we're not already lower, we'll match the price. This policy applies to EVERYTHING we sell, including machines, supplies, parts, etc. If you purchase an item from us and find it for less within 30 days AFTER you buy it, bring in the ad (or show us the website on your phone) and we'll refund the difference!
We are committed to helping the environment and reducing waste. Recycling is very big to us and we do what we can to reduce the amount of waste we put into the landfill. We make a special trip to a Styrofoam recycling center to drop off all of the Styrofoam that would otherwise be thrown out. Before we dispose of a vacuum cleaner, we strip it of whatever metal we can and recycle the metal.
Find a lower price? We'll beat any price on vacuums, bags, filters, belts, parts, and EVERYTHING else we sell. With 20 brands of vacuums, we can offer the best of what the industry has to offer in every price range. MANY Internet models and big box store models don't hold up as well or last as long as these uprights with bags.

I called to see if they had a spool post for my Singer 201... guy said to bring the machine in...I asked, "it's just a spool post... if I give you a part no. can you check to see if you have one?" One word reply..."no".
Really? You can't check for a common spool post over the phone? You want me drag my old machine in there just for a spool post?
Thanks but it shouldn't be that difficult. 2 clicks later and I've got one on order. I tried to buy locally... but they pushed me onto the internet...and a less than stellar review.

This is a great store. So much more selection than any other stores in terms of styles and brands. All price points. Extremely knowledgeable staff! I was so happy to find them when I needed a new vacuum. Bob answered every question I had and let me demo the floor model. No pressure at any point and he worked in my price range. Prices (at least on what I was shopping) were equal to or better than other retailers, including Amazon. Highly suggested!

Update!! Went here tonight with an issue with my embroidery machine (I think it was self-inflicted, oops!) Both of the men at the counter were so nice and helpful. Had my issue fixed in a matter of minutes. Thank you so much! Such a great establishment!!
Amazing selection and great customer service! Many sewing and embroidery machines to choose from, so so so many accessories and thread! The people that I interacted with were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable! It was really nice finding a place where the staff knows every product through and through. I took my Singer sewing machine in today for jamming problems with the intention of needing to leave it there for a week or so. The gentleman at the counter fixed it immediately, right in front of me, and didn't charge me a dime. He wouldn't take a tip either. Wow, it was so awesome to see that there are good, honest people in the world who know what great service is all about. Thank you, thank you.

I love this store! They are knowledgeable, nice, courteous and not at all pushy. They help you find what's right for you and spend as much time as necessary to get everything done perfectly. I just bought a new sewing machine from them and have bought many accessories for my old machine, as well as having the old one serviced by them.

For several years now, I've been buying my vacuums, all supplies, as well as buying and servicing my sewing machines and purchasing many sewing supplies here. I take sewing classes at this store, too.
My favorite things about Discount Vac & Sewing are the knowledgeable, extremely helpful and trustworthy sales staff, plus their excellent and fairly-priced repair services.

These guys are very helpful and knowledgeable. I went in last weekend with a broken vacuum and left 5 minutes later with it fixed-free of charge! It was a simple repair and the guy was happy to do it. For all I knew it was going to cost me a lot of money, but all he had to do was glue the hose. I've had several repairs done here and will keep coming back. Thanks guys for the great reliable service!
